Anna and Ben have been inseparable since childhood, best of best friends who have been there for each other from the very start. A safe haven where they could confide in each other.
To everyone else, it was obvious—the way he looked at her, the way she leaned on and depended on him. The way their worlds revolved around each other, and how neither could go a day without the other.
Everyone noticed it but them.
To Anna, Ben is home, and to Ben, Anna is everything.
Neither of them had ever questioned their relationship, not even once. At least, not until the night everything changed.
At her high school reunion, someone unexpected enters her world—Francis.
A calm, charming, and attentive man who doesn’t seek attention but somehow is always the center of it.
Her dormant heart finally begins to beat again with something new, exciting, and confusing at the same time.
Ben notices, but to him it’s nothing serious—just random stares, laughter he had never heard from her before.
Then it escalates—from annoyance to possessiveness to fear.
Into something hard and unfamiliar gnawing in his chest.
At first, he tells her he’s just being protective. Then he distrusts Francis’s character. Then he tells her she’s just being stupid.
At least until the night he realizes his true feelings.
He wasn’t scared for her.
He was scared of losing her.
