The empire has fallen.

But death does not come as expected.
After the rebellion, Kai pays little attention to Ray’s existence. A sickly prince confined to his chambers is hardly a threat to the man who conquered an empire.
Yet the more their paths cross, the more unsettling Ray becomes.
There is something unnatural in the way he watches the world around him. In the way he speaks as though he has already seen the worst life has to offer and found nothing surprising in it.
“Living is exhausting, and dying is painful… so I’d rather stay in bed and sleep.”
The way that Ray accepts cruelty, pain, and loss with a quiet ease irritates Kai more than hatred ever could.
He treats his own suffering as ordinary while telling others to keep living, even when he himself seems to have long given up.
And slowly, against his own will, Kai finds himself drawn into Ray’s orbit, trying to change his tainted view of the world.
In the process, he realises that there is more to the forgotten prince than anyone realizes.
Something hidden beneath his illness. Something buried deep within the empire itself.
Something… that does not quite belong in this world.
