Proxy has a simple philosophy about life.
Avoid trouble. Avoid fights. Avoid people who look like they enjoy either of those things.
Unfortunately, Proxy also has Nyx.
They grew up together. Stayed together. Drifted through the same corners of the city long enough that everyone eventually assumed they were a package deal.
Proxy assumed the same thing.
What he did not assume was that Nyx had reached a conclusion about him.
A very simple conclusion.
If someone threatens Proxy, they shouldn't exist anymore.
Proxy, of course, doesn't know that.
Not yet.
Up until now, Nyx has been normal. Mostly normal. A little quiet. A little intense.
That illusion lasts right up until the night they both found themselves on a tropical island with fighting for their lives.
Welcome to the Corporate Death Game.
Thirty-Six contestants.
One island.
Only the survivors get to leave.
Proxy plans to survive by hiding behind a terminal, breaking a few systems, and staying far away from the violence.
Nyx has a different plan.
Because if everyone else on the island dies, Proxy will be perfectly safe.
