Grey Wilder is a man of spreadsheets, lukewarm coffee, and invisible social standing. To keep her presence a secret from his nosy mother, Mildred, Grey is forced to introduce Anastasia as his girlfriend—a lie that the Queen takes with deadly seriousness. As Anastasia begins to apply "Cruel Queen" political strategies to Grey’s mundane office life and takes a job as a "Cruel Maid" at a local cafe (where her insults are mistaken for high-tier roleplay), the boundary between their fake relationship and real feelings begins to blur.
From battling "Sand Monsters" (crabs) at the beach to navigating high-stakes corporate galas, Grey must protect his royal roommate from a world she doesn't understand, while Anastasia teaches Grey that even a "peasant" can have the heart of a king.
In this slow-burn romantic comedy, two people from different worlds must discover if they can find a common language—or if the secrets of Anastasia's past will catch up to them before the next rent check is due.
