The Immortal Island was sparsely populated, inhabited only by cranes or maidens transformed from flower spirits. Within the grand hall, she stood alone, undisturbed by any sound except the faint rustling of pages as she leafed through the books.
Meanwhile, outside the island, a young guard and an elderly man escorted a man clad in white. The three stood at the entrance to the island.
Barred by the protective barrier, they could neither touch nor approach it, remaining halted before it.
"Young Master, we have arrived," the old man said, gazing at the mist-shrouded island ahead, his voice tinged with excitement.
The white-robed man, Yuan Jing, fixed his lifeless gaze ahead. Though he knew the island before him belonged to the Phoenix Empress, his blindness rendered him surprisingly calm.
"I am Yuan Jing, here to pay my respects to the Phoenix Empress."
