Pangu suddenly yawned and said, "All this sentimental talk bores me to death."
I smile. I am glad that he can still find it in himself to joke around despite his current situation. He lets out another yawn and says, "Let's focus on you. You're in a pretty bad shape as well, buddy."
My expression grim, I nod, "I don't really understand how I am supposed to find a method to absorb energy in this chaotic environment."
Then, I remember that the spirit of my sword is the creator of this universe. "Do you know a way?"
"If you don't cultivate the law of Chaos, then it is impossible for you to absorb energy," Pangu replied, crushing my remaining hope.
However, determined by the oath I swore to Pangu minutes ago, I pull myself together and ask the logical question, "What makes it impossible?"
He was silent, thinking about the answer. Half an hour passes by, and only now does he say, "To be truthful, I say it is impossible because no one in the history of the universe has tried to do it…"
I frown, "Just because someone didn't try to do it, or at the very least wasn't successful, doesn't make it impossible."
"Yes. I admit that I was too quick to judge the situation."
I ponder it for some time. At least now there is hope. Logically, if Farbauti, and by extension Richard, wants me to replenish my energy reserves while remaining on Isle of Prisons, it means that there is indeed a way.
"When the universe was created, the laws were still being created and weren't in their current orderly state, correct?" I asked after some time had passed while I was deep in thought.
"Yes, that was indeed how it was," Pangu replies, and from the way he talked, I think he is starting to understand what I am thinking.
"Richard once mentioned to me that when he travelled back in time, he went to the birth of the universe, and that was where he became powerful enough to be the Lord of Chaos. So, theoretically, he managed to study the laws in an environment similar to the one here, perhaps even worse."
"That makes sense."
"I have an idea. If I can latch onto my laws, Water, Wind, and Ice, I should theoretically be able to absorb energy afterwards."
"It is a sound idea, Orion. But I must remind you that there has to be someone who has tried this before and never succeeded."
"I know it is not easy," I sigh, "but I must try!"
First off, I sat down and closed my eyes. A few deep and slow breaths helped me relax my body and converge my concentration. Then, I let my senses out to try and make sense of the chaotic laws around me.
They were scrambled and intertwined with each other so much that I doubt they can be arranged again. But my goal wasn't to arrange them; it was to find my laws and catch them, so to speak.
This, however, proved to be extremely difficult, and I had no luck even though two days had passed. Yet, I didn't stop. I divided the surrounding laws around my body into smaller batches; this makes it easier for me to search, and when I do find anything, it would allow me to latch onto my laws while looking in other batches.
Another three days passed, and I finally found and connected to one of the batches. Unsurprisingly, it was a small strand of the law of Ice. I smiled, feeling my hope renewed.
The other batches were easier to search in now, I realized as I tried once again. Five days later, I was connected to countless strands of laws. Although each connection was small and insignificant, it was a strong one when combined.
I let out a laugh of joy from the depths of my heart, and through the connection to the laws, I let the energy flow through me.
"I'll be damned," Pangu exclaims in shock. "It actually worked!"
I chuckle and let myself enjoy this feeling that shouldn't be a big deal under normal circumstances. Soon enough, my body was back in its peak condition. I let out a sigh and stand up before walking to the door.
I was preparing to boast about my success to my Senior Brother, but Farbauti immediately said, "It is time for our fight!"
