Chapter 87 - It's Done

In a remote corner of Egypt, Isis landed and closed her wings. The body of her husband and brother Osiris, appeared in her hands, where she placed it on a nearby altar that was covered in darkness.

She caressed his head gently, and a tear went down her cheek. A few minutes later, Nephthys landed in the same place and walked towards her sister.

"How is he?" she asked.

"Did you kill him?" Isis ignored her question and asked one of her own.

"My attacks were physical; I couldn't even leave a scratch," Nephthys replied. "Melkarth stunned his spirit but couldn't injure him any further because of his Chaos Flame-"

"She asked you if you killed him, not to make excuses," a voice interrupted her from behind as a young man with dark skin stepped in. His head was bald, and one of his eyes was glowing.

"Well, forgive me, your Majesty, but I seem to recall that even you failed in killing Set," Nephthys replied with a frown.

"That's no way to speak to your Pharaoh, Nephthys!" Isis scolded.

you that we managed to get Osiris back only because you followed me to him? Also, maybe I should remind you that I'm about to revive him too!" she snapped at both of them. "Any objections? No? Good."

She approached Osiris, touched his abdomen, and closed her eyes. After some time passed, she opened her eyes again and said, "His body has been inactive for too long, it's impossible to revive him in this state-"

Again, Horus interrupted her and shouted, "You said you could revive him!"

"If you are done interrupting me like a child, you would have heard what I will say next!" she shouted back. Her annoyance at her sister and her son was reaching unimaginable heights. In fact, they have always been condescending towards her, which later on caused her to cheat on Set with Osiris by taking her sister's form to spite her and Set…

"Why you...!"

"Let her speak, Horus," Isis ordered her son. "Continue, Nephthys, we don't have much time."

"Thank you," Nephthys said and shot a glance at Horus at the same time. "The body is useless now, but the soul is still intact to an extent. There's a way, remember the prophecy of the Blue Emperor?"

"Yes, what about it?"

"It was said that at some point, a blue emperor would appear and take on the position of the judge of the dead. Until now, no such thing has happened, which means..."

"The point, Nephthys," Isis stressed, getting more impatient by the second.

"What if Osiris is the one who becomes this emperor?"

"Would it work?"

"It's worth a try, at least."

"That's not enough!" said Horus.

"Do you have any better ideas?" Her question was met with his silence.

Nephthys smirked and closed her eyes as an ankh appeared in her hand. She passed it all over the cold body as she chanted. An hour later, she stopped, and Osiris' body withered until not even the bones were left.

Nephthys opened her eyes and said, "It's done."
