Chapter 928 - Seventy Years of Grudges

"You go on ahead."

In the dim passage, Ikaris suddenly stopped, his eyes glowing with brilliant golden light, a trace of power flowing from them.

"Someone discovered our tracks?" Hearing this, Druig immediately tensed all over, as if his hair had stood on end. The figure of a man appeared in his mind, hatred and fear mixed together. "Is it... Jugram Haschwalth?"

"It's not Haschwalth."

Ikaris shook his head, his eyes flickering slightly as he calmly said, "Just two little mice. Take Nick Fury and go first. Leave them to me."

"Then I'll leave it to you."

Druig did not doubt him. He nodded slightly, looked deeply at him, then let out a long breath and said, "This should be the last time I see you. Some words... you should tell Sersi in the end. Don't be like me and leave behind regrets."

"Mm... I will."

Ikaris had his back to Druig, a desolate look appearing in his eyes.

Druig said nothing more. Carrying the unconscious Nick Fury, his face carried a trace of determination as he stepped toward the exit of the passage.

Ikaris folded his arms over his chest, closed his eyes, and no one knew what he was thinking.

The sound of footsteps grew closer and closer, like dense drumbeats, indicating that the enemy was approaching. When two agile figures suddenly appeared at the end of the passage, Ikaris finally opened his eyes.

Boom!

The instant he lifted his eyelids, two blazing golden lasers broke through the darkness with the force of thunder.

The blazing golden beams illuminated the entire passage, carrying unstoppable power and a roaring wave-like gale, like two sharp spears shooting straight toward those two figures.

One of them reacted extremely quickly. In less than a fraction of a second, he stepped forward and raised a round battle shield.

Clang!!!

The fierce blazing beam struck the battle shield, erupting with an astonishing loud roar.

But what was even more surprising was that the golden beam, which had always cut through metal and jade, being indestructible, actually suffered a loss against a metal battle shield. It seemed to have struck a copper wall or iron rampart, exploding into countless needle-like shattered light waves that plowed trenches into the surrounding walls.

Broken stones rose with smoke, and the wild wind screamed.

The aftermath scattered after the energy shattered made the entire underground passage shake.

There were many people in the world who could block his laser beams, but there was basically only one person who could block them with just a shield.

A man smashed through the smoke and dust, wearing a star-spangled battle suit, his right arm holding a blue metal shield with a red pattern. His identity was obvious, precisely Captain America, Steve Rogers, and the person walking out of the smoke behind him was naturally Falcon, Sam Wilson.

The two followed Nick Fury's trail, and through S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Eye System, finally discovered this hiding place.

"I was wondering how you could block my laser beams. So it was a shield made of vibranium." Ikaris narrowed his eyes slightly and let out a contemptuous sneer. "Using vibranium to make a shield, you humans truly waste heavenly treasures."

"Where is Fury?"

Steve had no intention of wasting words with him and went straight to the point. "Release Nick Fury, and I can let you suffer less."

"Heh, so this is how you treat your lifesaver?"

Ikaris sneered. "If I had known Captain America was this kind of person, back in Siberia, I should never have come out to stand up for you. Otherwise, the Eternals would not have fallen to this point."

"...I am grateful that you saved me in Siberia."

Steve looked at that familiar face and fell silent for a moment, a trace of guilt appearing, but he quickly suppressed it. "If you hadn't saved me, I might have died in the mouth of that Hollow. But that cannot become a reason for me to let you destroy Earth!"

"Doesn't matter. I never expected that in the first place."

Ikaris sneered, raised his hand, pointed at himself, and said, "Don't you want to rescue Nick Fury? Then defeat me first. Otherwise... don't even think about taking a step out of here."

"Sam, go after him."

Steve took a deep breath, spiritual power surging in his eyes, and said in a deep voice, "I'll create an opportunity for you. You must rescue Fury."

"Understood! I won't let you down, Captain." Facing the trust of his idol, Sam nodded solemnly, understanding that with his insignificant strength, staying here would only hold him back.

"You want to leave? Did you ask me?"

Ikaris's expression turned ruthless. He bent down and stepped forward like a fierce leopard, crossing dozens of meters in an instant.

Although the Eternals each specialized in different abilities, their bodies far surpassed humans by more than tenfold, and as the strongest warrior among the Eternals, the one most skilled at battle, his physical strength surpassed his kin by more than tenfold.

Even without the laser beams from his eyes, to humans, he was still an ancient fierce beast.

Whoosh!

Before his figure even arrived nearby, the wild wind he stirred up crashed over like a giant wave.

A thunderous storm exploded at close range, shaking Sam until his ears were almost deafened. His head buzzed nonstop as if struck by a heavy hammer, and blood surged out from his mouth, nose, ears, and eyes.

"Die!"

Ikaris clenched his fist and struck straight out, without the slightest technique, yet extremely fierce and domineering.

The roaring wild wind wrapped around his fist, only to be shattered by the enormous force. It was like a giant bulldozer roaring forward, smashing apart every obstacle ahead. The terrifying momentum made it hard for Sam to breathe, making it difficult to move even one finger. He could only widen his eyes and despairingly wait for death to descend.

But in the next instant, the huge raging air wave suddenly vanished without a trace.

The punch Ikaris threw with all his strength was firmly clamped at the wrist by five pale bone-like fingers, like iron tongs. That violent force sank into the sea like a stone, without stirring the slightest wave.

The fingertips seemed stained with blood, showing a strange dark-red color.

A scarlet bloodline on the back of the hand extended along that pale arm all the way to the shoulder, where a protruding sharp point was like a demon's horn.

"What... is this thing?" Ikaris sized up that arm, and his heart could not help being slightly startled.

From the instant this arm appeared, Steve's entire person became somewhat abnormal, emitting a completely different fierce and baleful aura. His eyes were dyed with a scarlet and violent color, looking exactly like a vicious ghost crawling out of hell.

"The demon's left arm."

Steve suppressed that baleful aura, turned his head to Sam, who was standing there in a daze, and said, "Hurry and rescue Fury. I'll hold him here."

Sam suddenly shivered violently, his hair standing on end like he had been electrocuted, stimulated by that baleful aura. With a trace of fear on his face, he nodded frantically like pounding garlic. "Y-Yes... Captain, I'll go after Director Fury right now!"

"Did I let you leave?"

Ikaris's face showed urgency, and he wanted to pull his fist free and turn to stop Sam.

Who knew that when he exerted force, not only did he fail to pull his fist out, he was instead pulled over himself, and a look of astonishment appeared on his face.

"I... didn't let you leave!"

A cold and ruthless voice, accompanied by a powerful heavy punch, landed on Ikaris's face.
