The blue light disappeared inside Jong Suk's office at Hankuk University Hospital, leaving him standing near his desk with Yeon Joo's weakened body leaning heavily against him, while the medical bag slipped from his shoulder and landed on the floor because he needed both arms to keep her from collapsing.
Yeon Joo opened her eyes for only a moment and recognised the familiar white walls, the medical books stacked across Jong Suk's shelves and the quiet humming sound from the air conditioner, but she did not have enough strength to question how they had arrived.
Jong Suk immediately placed one arm beneath her knees and lifted her against his chest.
"Professor, I can walk," she whispered, although her voice was too weak to make the statement believable.
"You cannot even keep your eyes open."
