Yeon Joo stopped pretending not to listen.
Jong Suk rubbed one hand across his forehead while the doctor on the other side continued speaking. "No, Professor Kang cannot lead that transplant, because he was not involved in the original reconstruction and there are adhesions around the vascular area that he has never seen... I know he has my operative notes, but notes are not the same as being there."
The word transplant was already enough for Yeon Joo to understand why the call had become serious.
When Jong Suk finally ended it, he remained beside the window with his phone still inside his hand, looking toward nothing for several moments until Yeon Joo asked quietly, "The patient you told me about before?"
He nodded. "His condition deteriorated, and they found a suitable donor earlier than expected, so they are transferring him urgently to Zurich because the transplant team there has the facilities we need."
"And you performed his previous surgery."
"Yes."
"So they need you."
