Yeon Joo had only just finished helping Grandfather Kim drink the honeyed water when she finally turned toward Seon Jeo, and the moment she properly looked at him, she forgot that she was supposed to feel guilty for leaving the palace without permission. He had changed out of his military uniform before following her, but his dark cloak was still too well made for this poor district, his sword was only half hidden beneath it and, worst of all, he continued standing with his shoulders straight while watching every person around them as though he were still guarding the royal courtyard.
"What are you wearing?" Yeon Joo asked, pointing at him before Seon Jeo could even question why she had escaped through the service gate. "You are supposed to follow me quietly, but you look like someone who owns half the shops on this street."
