Chapter 206 - Chapter 206: The Law of Fire

The colossal bronze doors stood before him, pulsing with the rhythm of an ancient heartbeat.

Fang Lin took a deep breath. His Four-Pillared Cosmic Cycle hummed in perfect equilibrium, restoring his Qi to its absolute peak. He placed both hands against the burning metal.

With a heavy grunt, he pushed.

The doors groaned, scraping against the dark bronze floor as they swung inward. A wave of heat washed over him, but it wasn't the apocalyptic blast of a furnace. It was quiet. It was profound.

Fang Lin stepped through the threshold.

He expected a sea of roaring flames or a labyrinth of magma. Instead, he found himself standing in a perfectly circular, stark vault made entirely of seamless void-metal. There were no decorations, no array formations, and no pillars.

In the dead center of the room, a single spark of pitch-black fire floated in the air.

It cast no light. It produced no smoke. It was a flame of absolute zero mass.

The heavy bronze doors slammed shut behind him with a deafening *BOOM*. The sudden sound echoed endlessly in the stark chamber.

"Loud-Boy..." the Dark Flame Spirit murmured in his Spiritual Sea.

Her voice wasn't filled with her usual innocent greed. She wasn't cowering, but she was intensely focused. Her tiny form stood up on the edge of the Ancient Spatial Furnace, her black eyes locked onto the spark in the center of the room.

"What is it?" Fang Lin asked, his divine sense sweeping the room.

"That isn't normal fire," she said, her tone carrying the weight of ancient eras. "It's the Law of Fire. It's a conceptual flame of eradication."

Before Fang Lin could process the warning...it started.

There was no mechanical click, no shifting gravity, and no voice announcing a test. The spark in the center of the room simply pulsed once.

A wave of invisible force swept across the circular vault.

It hit Fang Lin instantly. He braced himself, expecting a physical impact or a surge of blistering heat, but the sensation was entirely silent.

In the blink of an eye, his dark robes simply ceased to exist. They didn't catch fire or scorch; they turned into a fine, grey ash that drifted away into nothingness, leaving him completely naked.

Then, he looked at his right hand.

The tips of his fingers were dissolving. They weren't burning away into charred bone; they were simply turning into fine, grey ash and drifting into the air.

A spike of pure, unadulterated agony shot up his arm. It was a pain that bypassed his nerves entirely, striking at the very concept of his physical existence.

"It's attacking the structural laws of your body!" the Dark Flame Spirit warned. "It wants to erase you!"

Fang Lin didn't panic. His pitch-black eyes narrowed as his Crystal Soul Realm spun into overdrive, multi-threading his perception to analyze the damage.

He immediately channeled his Frost Core. A thick layer of absolute zero frost coated his skin, an attempt to use the Law of Stillness to halt the eradication.

The frost turned to ash the moment it materialized.

"Useless," Fang Lin gritted his teeth. "Physical temperature means nothing to a conceptual law."

The eradication spread faster. The flame crept up his fingers, consuming his knuckles and moving toward his wrist. Even his Greater Mastery Asura Flesh—a physique tough enough to shatter mountains—was powerless. The flame didn't care how dense his muscles were. It only cared that they existed, and it wanted them gone.

If this continued, he would be reduced to nothingness in a matter of minutes.

"If I can't stop the destruction," Fang Lin murmured, his eyes flashing with ruthless determination. "Then I will simply out-create it."

*Thump.*

A vibrant, resonant heartbeat echoed from his Dantian.

The Emerald-gold Life Core spun violently, breaking away from the balanced rotation of the Four-Pillared Cosmic Cycle. It flooded his meridians with a blinding, green-gold light.

Fang Lin unleashed the full, unsuppressed power of his Life Cultivation path.

A torrential river of pure vitality surged into his right arm. As the invisible eradication flame turned his knuckles to ash, the Emerald-gold Life Qi instantly reconstructed the bone, muscle, and skin.

*Burn. Heal. Burn. Heal.*

The cycle was instantaneous. The sheer agony was indescribable. Every second, his hand was being unmade and remade, trapping his nervous system in an endless loop of cellular death and rebirth.

Fang Lin fell to one knee, a low, guttural groan escaping his throat. Sweat poured down his face, instantly evaporating into the stark air.

He gritted his teeth, forcing his breathing to remain steady.

He focused entirely on the Emerald-gold Life Core, manually adjusting the output of vitality. If he pumped too much Life Qi, his arm would mutate from uncontrolled cellular growth. If he pumped too little, the eradication flame would consume him.

He had to find the exact equilibrium.

Seconds stretched into minutes. The invisible wave of eradication washed over his entire body now. His skin cracked into ash, only to be instantly replaced by fresh, vibrant flesh.

He knelt in the center of the vault, a statue of agonizing endurance.

Unknown to him, the first stage of the Trial of Fire had begun, and it was testing the absolute limits of his physical foundation.
