If you want to make something look like miniature toys animated using stop motion, try out tilt shift.
Some cameras have a tilt shift feature and combining it with a bit of fast forward will give it that authentic miniature stop motion vibe. If your camera doesn't have tilt shift, blurring the top and bottom of a video does a similar effect.
