Chapter 2 - Let The Games Begin...(2)

After school had ended, she avoided the flock of people begging for information on her life and headed to the library. She needed to return a book she had borrowed and see if she could find a new book that caught her eye. The reason she couldn't just buy a new book was because her bedroom was literally made up of books. She had no more space to keep them in.

She especially loved romance and action books as they both gave her a thrill of exhilaration deep inside her stomach. The reason she couldn't just buy a new book was because her bedroom was literally made up of books. She had no more space to keep them in. She headed to the desk and scanned her book returning it under her name and went to browse the shelves for books to read.

Her dainty finger ran over the countless books she had already read as she tried to find something new. Suddenly, a bright cover of a silhouette holding a gun caught her eye. She smiled taking the book out. She turned it over to read the synopsis of the book, it was called: Hold Your Last Breath

Death

Pain

Heartache

Three words to describe this story.

When the doorbell rings at three in the morning, it's never good news.

When his guardian does in suspicious circumstances, his world is turned upside down. In a few hours, he has gone from living a normal life to being involved with national intelligence service.

He was forcibly recruited as he knew seknew too dangerous to be left alone. But his first assignment as a spy, may very well be his last.

Will he live to see another day...

Ying Yue was happy with how the book sounded and found an empty desk to read alone at. She quickly checked out the book and sat down reading to her heart's content. She was several pages in but realised she had many assignments and revision material to cover.

She sighed in annoyance before promising to herself that she would finish everything off after finishing the book.

However, that time never came as her shoulder was gently shaken up hours after she had fallen asleep.

She rubbed her blurry eyes to see a face staring down at her...

She had to admit, it looked quite handsome.

As her vision improved, she realised it was Liu Jianguo and immediately backed away, taking her word back. He was looking down at her smiling and she couldn't help but feel flustered. He had seen her in such a weak state, was her strong facade seen through. She tried to calm herself down taking deep breaths while looking down and packing her bag.

Liu Jianguo smiles at how shy she was acting just because she was caught sleeping. He smiled watching her clumsily stuff her bag with the book she was using as a pillow and other papers. After a moment, she looked up to catch him staring so he quickly proceeded to speak:

"Just thought I would let you know that the library is closing."

"OK," Ying Yue replied, clearly showing no interest in conversing with him.

"Also, you look rather cute when you sleep. Your face is so peaceful, unlike the stoic expression you wear most of the time." He gushed, unable to restrain himself any longer. He gently pinched Ying Yue cheeks and she shot him a glare. Liu Jianguo quickly snatched his hands back realising what he had done.

"Didn't I tell you and your group of friends to stay away from me?" Ying Yue asked mockingly. She was trying to ask if he was dumb.

"Yes, but I-" He began before being harshly cut off by Ying Yue.

"Exactly. So stay away from me then!"

Ying Yue was fuming. Could he not understand the simple favour she had asked him to do? She grabbed her bag and tried to walk out but Liu Jianguo stood in front of her with pleading eye. Ying Yue let out a sigh and bit down on her bottom lip to prevent herself from attacking him in frustration.

She tapped her foot impatiently and chewed in her bottom lip harder. Her face was contorting into a murderous look and her fist tightly clenched around her bag.

Liu Jianguo didn't seem to notice though as he was caught on a trance looking at her soft, pink lips. Her lips began to move and he suddenly snapped out of his trance, his face flushing red.

"Are you going to stand there forever without asking anything?" She questioned.

"Oh, um- Well, I can give you some information on EGO?" Liu Jianguo stumbles over his words and help you get revenge for your friend.

EGO stood for Elite Group of Oppression and described them pretty well. They never called themselves that but it was what the rest of the school referred to them as. Also, their ego's are sky high.

"What makes you think I'm going to trust you?" Ying Yue questioned. There was a calm look on her face but inside, she was going crazy. Everyone usually avoided her or acted as if she wasn't there. It was what she was used to. Now, she had Liu Jianguo constantly following and it made her think that he knew something he shouldn't. Even though she had nothing to hide, there was a constant nagging in her subconscious mind.

"You can trust me because I am not asking for anything in return..." Ying Yue pursed her lips and really wanted to know what information he had on EGO.

"Except for your friendship." He finished if his sentence leaving Ying Yue stunned.

Friendship! She was not going to trust anybody. Especially not someone form EGO. Why would he ask for her friendship though. Anybody else would love to be friends with him. He was clever, good looking-

Ying Yue paused as she thought of this. He was invading her thoughts now and she needed to get him out. But his information could be useful...

Ugh! Why was it so difficult to make a decision with this guy! After a long and awkward silence, Ying Yue came up with her decision.

"OK. I'll be your... friend." Ying Yue cursed silently after hearing herself. She sounded pathetic! What happened to the strong image she was trying to retain. His face broke into a smile as happiness flowed through him, warming his skin like the rays of an early summer sun. His customary cautious grin exploded into a radiant smile that he had never worn before, not even as a child. Everything was going to be alright now.

Liu Jianguo snapped out of his thought when she waved goodbye to him as she walked away. His head felt like it was going to explode. He was certain that Ying Yue didn't know how long he had been waiting for this day.

Ying Yue walked outside and it had began to rain. She groaned in frustration as she padded home. She wished she had asked her cousin to pick her up... Although he probably would have said no.

Ying Yue family was one powerful family and that was dangerous because with power, came enemies. And the Ying family had a lot. So she was meant to keep her identity low profile and just be another regular girl with the surname Ying. Ever since her identity as a descendant if the Ying family was exposed, she had been a paranoid mess.

She didn't want to does at such a young age but that could be the case if she didn't sort this out. As her thought ran rampage in her head, she didn't hear the sound of a car pulling up beside her.

The only time she snapped into action was when a hand was placed in her shoulder...
