It's been a few good hours and the compound is finally pretty much empty, we took everything we could down to the portable showers, now we are just loading the last few of the people into the dinghies before we set off to waters technically unknown. Though I do somewhat know as we are basically going the same way that the original cast went on except we are simply going further, so it's not like I'm going in exactly blind.
The Serene has room for 24 people, unless you cram families in as well as use the couches and so such then you can probably stuff around 40 people in, if you really want to push it and have people sleep on the deck in sleeping bags and so such we could probably stuff 40-50 people though it would be less comfortable.
For the most part, I chose obviously myself, Victoria, the rest of our team, Alex, the girl that got stranded on the raft in the show early on, her friend Jake, the clark extended family because I'm sentimental I suppose, Naomi just because why not , Doctor Bethany and three of her nurses and after that I left it to Victoria to deal with however she wanted as those were simply the interesting people in the group or the people I actually knew and liked. The rest would bed down on the cargo ship.
Something interesting I noticed when I was speaking to the captain of the Serene, a captain i painstakingly chose, and the crew of the ship, before we departed, was that somebody was not who they were supposed to be.
You might ask how I would know this? That would be because I went over all the files of the crew that were chosen and signed off on them all personally. Though interestingly enough I did actually somewhat recognize her. Though she does look a little different, it could be simple cosmetics or something but I would like to introduce you to Annie Walker, the main person from covert affairs.
I wonder if she is a CIA spy in this world or if this is just some weird fluke, or god having fun or simply trying to amuse me as well? Who knows though, certainly not me.
With that I checked her name plate from afar, Sandra is it huh? This should be interesting at least.
"Thank you Captain Devon, you and your crew have done quite well under the circumstances." I praise them all. "You may all attend you duties" I tell them as they begin to disperse
"Captain, Sandra, I believe your name is, could you please stay for a moment?" That lead to a fairly nervous Sandra, though she hides it well enough to Barely be noticeable.
As it's now just us three and everyone else is gone, though Victoria and Alicia had made their way over to us "so Sandra, I'm going to have to ask, if you don't mind, who you actually are? I know for a fact that I hired and vetted every member of both crews so I know you aren't somebody that I chose...." I tell her leadingly. The captain tenses at that somewhat moving away from her. So he probably didn't know. I noticed Victoria also tense at that though Alicia looked confused.
Sandra just let out a heavy breath "I'm not sure it really matters anymore considering the state of the world...." she told me, weakly trying to avoid the subject.
I was obviously using legilimency on her surface thoughts and she was definitely a spy.
"So then may I ask your real name and who you work for? I can already guess who and why and like you said it doesn't really matter anymore, as I'm not a monster and am not going to maroon you somewhere or worse, so long as you don't mean the people on these ships any harm." I ask these questions so that she would think on these topics, so that I can read them off the surface thoughts of her mind.
I also seen several emotions appear and quickly leave her features, among them were fear on being found out and relief at me simply not caring. Ah Piper Perabo your doe eyes shall not affect me! Ahh stop giving me those doe eyed looks it's unfair for my health!
"Well you have to understand, you simply came out of nowhere, a hundreds of million dollar yacht in your name not to mention that cargo container.... I was simply sent to make sure you weren't a terrorist of some sort or working with them.... not that it matters anymore though, yes I worked for the CIA but they haven't responded in weeks nor do I expect them to if I am being honest. Also my real name is Annie Walker and I suppose I actually work for you now. She said somewhat amused at the end because yes she did technically work for me.
"I already knew most of this of course I was mostly just curious if we could form a good working relationship, maybe build a little trust." I say snapping my fingers and Helia flaming on my shoulder. Much to the shock of the captain and Annie as they had never seen her yet.
"As for the ships and other things, they were I guess you could say gifts for information. The governments have known about all of this for a while before it got bad. I simply gave the information to certain people for certain things." I tell them as they come out of their shock.
"Well at least I can easily say our information was just a little bit off on this one!" She mused out loud "and how the hell did you know who I was already?!" That simply annoyed her pride in her work.
"Well you see this little lady sitting on my shoulder?" At her and amusingly enough everyone else's nods I continued. Well her being bonded to me gives me a LOT of benefits. Just to name a few would be teleporting of sorts, the ability to throw fire" I say as a create a small fireball in my hand before dismissing it "I can regenerate from almost any wound, including being infected, it's why I can go out alone and not overly worry, I can either teleport away or shoot or stab my way out without having to worry about every scratch... also I'm stronger and faster than most people in my size group." Most of the last of that was said while looking at Victoria and Alicia, as Victoria always tries to go with me and Alicia has been talking about it more and more.
"Well that explains why you like to do recon and supply runs on your own I suppose, you can be in and out quickly... having more people could simply hinder you." She said with a sad sigh "you should have told us and we wouldn't have badgered you so badly, though I can understand not wanting to out yourself and your abilities, with the government already running around killing people."
"There are actually a few things I can do as the.. energy? Yes the energy I get through the bond can be used for many things I think. I have been able to make it so people don't notice me for one, I will keep anything else for a surprise though! I tell them with a mischievous smile adorning my face.
"Oh, also Helia's tears can cure those bitten so long as they don't die, and or can heal any wounds aside from death." I add as an afterthought. Everyone knew this tidbit aside from Annie I think, as the captain most likely saw the boy, Jake get healed, though I suppose Annie could have seen that also. As she didn't seem overly surprised by that fact I'm guessing she seen that much.. that's not fun at all!
As we raised anchor and were on our way out to sea, the sky lit up behind us as Los Angeles was begenning to be carpet bombed by the military.
