Chapter 67 - A guardian angel

"Yes," she responded as her eyes lit up with a shy smile.

"He asked me to marry him when I turned twelve. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

He presented me with the most beautiful gold ring I had ever seen. We stood beside a magnificent waterfall, its rushing waters filling the air with a soothing roar. A cool breeze swept over us from time to time, carrying a fine mist that settled gently on our skin. The icy water lapped around our feet while birds sang from the ancient trees surrounding the falls, as though nature itself had gathered to witness the occasion.

He was dressed like a Yoruba prince, regal and dignified. I was adorned like a queen. It felt so real that I forgot it was only a dream. When he asked me to be his wife, I said yes. At that age, there was no way I could have turned down such a beautiful proposal.

After the marriage, everything changed.
