Chapter 209 - Vol. 05 Ch. 86 – The Battle of Ohara 7: The World's New Nightmare

The battlefield fell silent. For the first time since dawn...

No explosions. No clashing steel. No thunder.

Only the sound of waves rolling against the ruined shores of Ohara. The setting sun had nearly disappeared beneath the western horizon, painting the sky in shades of crimson and gold. The battlefield that had once been filled with thousands of voices now felt strangely empty.

Sakazuki stood motionless. Molten magma continued dripping from his fists, hissing as it struck the cooling ground. His eyes remained fixed on Arthur. Not a trace of surrender could be found in them.

There was no trace of surrender in his eyes. Only anger. Only frustration. Only hatred.

Beside him, Kuzan quietly lowered his ice saber. The Den Den Mushi had already gone silent. Fleet Admiral Sengoku's order had been perfectly clear.

Withdraw.

There would be no discussion. There would be no negotiation.

Kuzan: "It's over." Kuzan let out a long breath before speaking.

Sakazuki: "...No." Sakazuki didn't even look at him.

Sakazuki: "I'm ending this today." His voice was low. Cold. Filled with restrained fury.

Kuzan: "That's a direct order from Fleet Admiral Sengoku." Kuzan sighed. He had expected this.

Sakazuki: "Then let him court-martial me afterward." Sakazuki finally turned his head. His burning eyes locked onto Kuzan.

Molten lava erupted around his body once more. The temperature of the surrounding air immediately began to rise. The magma around him surged even higher.

Kuzan remained silent for several moments. Then... he stepped forward. Not toward Arthur. Toward Sakazuki.

Kuzan: "...If you ignore the order... then you'll be fighting alone. And I will be the Fleet Admiral next." His voice remained calm.

For a brief instant... The battlefield became deathly quiet. Sakazuki stared at Kuzan. Kuzan returned the gaze without hesitation.

No hostility. No challenge. Only absolute certainty. The mission... had ended.

The magma surrounding his fists gradually receded. His shoulders remained tense. Every muscle in his body screamed for one more attack.

One more exchange. One more chance to erase the pirates standing before him. But orders... were orders. No matter how much he despised them.

Sakazuki: "...Tch." Several seconds passed before Sakazuki slowly clicked his tongue.

The moment the Marines saw the magma subside... A wave of relief swept across the battlefield.

Marine: "...The Admiral stopped..." Another Marine nearly collapsed onto his knees.

Marine: "We're... retreating?"

Comil: "Medical teams!" Rear Admiral Comil immediately raised his voice.

Marine: "Yes, sir!"

Everything suddenly became busy. The surviving Marines rushed toward their wounded comrades. Stretchers were improvised from broken timbers. Doctors hurried from ship to shore. Those still able to walk supported those who could not. Vice Admirals Momonga, Dalmatian, Doberman, and Onigumo were carefully lifted onto medical stretchers. Rear Admirals who had fought Sabo, Law, Koala, Kuina, Sugar, Bepo, and Baccarat were likewise evacuated.

No one spoke of continuing the battle anymore. No one wished to. Not after witnessing what the Art Pirates had become.

From across the battlefield... The Art Pirates simply watched.

No one attacked. No one interfered. Arthur silently observed the evacuation.

Robin stood beneath the Tree of Knowledge, watching the wounded Marines being carried away. Her expression remained unreadable. Perhaps... if this had happened twenty years earlier... The scholars of Ohara might have been saved.

Monet quietly folded away the countless sheets of paper drifting across the island. The endless white sea that had dominated the battlefield gradually disappeared into the evening breeze.

Hancock released her Succubus transformation. Her horns faded. Her wings vanished. The clouds surrounding the battlefield slowly dispersed.

Baby-5 smiled tiredly as the endless mist dissolved into the air.

Sabo rested his iron staff across one shoulder.

Law sheathed Kikoku.

Bepo laughed weakly before sitting on a broken stone.

Koala stretched both arms above her head.

Kuina quietly cleaned Dojigiri.

Sugar dismissed the thousands of floating weapons one by one until the metallic storm finally ceased.

Baccarat looked around the battlefield in silence. This... had been her first real war.

High above... The Angeloids slowly descended. Ikaros landed first. Little Arthoria remained asleep in her arms. Not once during the entire battle had she awakened.

Astrea gently lowered Lancelot onto Arthur's shoulder. The little boy immediately reached out toward his father with a cheerful laugh.

Nymph carried Merlin, who continued sleeping peacefully as though the battle had merely been background noise.

Arthur: "Good work." He smiled faintly.

Ikaros, Nymph & Astrea: "Yes, Master." All three smiled simultaneously.

The last rays of sunlight slowly disappeared. Darkness spread across Ohara. Only burning ruins continued to illuminate the battlefield. Orange flames flickered among collapsed buildings. Smoke drifted lazily into the evening sky. Against that burning horizon... the entire Art Pirates crew quietly assembled.

Arthur stood at the front.

Behind him stood Robin, Hancock, Monet, and Baby-5.

Behind them were Law, Sabo, Koala, Kuina, Sugar, Bepo, and Baccarat.

Behind them stood the three Angeloids, each carrying one of Arthur's children.

Behind them, the last light of the setting sun finally vanished beyond the horizon. The firelight cast long shadows across the broken earth. For several long moments... neither side spoke.

Sakazuki and Kuzan simply stood together.

Watching. Remembering. The silhouettes before them felt strangely unreal. Not merely because of their strength. But because of what they represented.

A single crew. Every senior officer possessed multiple Devil Fruits. Every junior officer had defeated elite Marine officers. Three Angeloids hovered behind them like divine guardians.

Even the children... had remained untouched throughout an entire war.

Sakazuki said nothing. His eyes never left Arthur. Arthur met his gaze without blinking. Neither smiled. Neither threatened. Nothing more needed to be said. The next time they met... words would be meaningless.

Kuzan: "...They've become one hell of a family." He quietly exhaled.

Arthur: "Let's go home." Arthur finally turned away.

No dramatic speeches. No celebration. No triumphant laughter. Every member simply nodded. Together... they began walking toward the shoreline. Their footsteps echoed softly across the shattered remains of Ohara. Behind them... the Marines silently watched.

No one tried to stop them. No one could.

At the abandoned harbor... Space suddenly distorted. A ripple spread through the air.

WHOOSH!!

The Athena reappeared exactly where it had once been, restored from Arthur's storage space as though it had never left. The crew boarded one after another. Ikaros carried Arthoria aboard. Nymph gently tucked the sleeping Merlin into his bed. Astrea laughed as Lancelot excitedly ran across the deck.

Robin: "...Goodbye." She paused for one last look at the Tree of Knowledge. This time... she didn't cry. A gentle smile appeared on her face.

Not with regret. Not anymore. Then she stepped aboard.

The anchor was raised. The sails unfurled. The Athena slowly pulled away from the harbor. Its silhouette gradually disappeared into the darkening sea.

Sakazuki remained standing on the shore until the ship vanished beyond the horizon. Only then did he finally turn away.

Behind him... the surviving Marines continued evacuating the wounded.

Ahead of him... only the long road back to Marine Headquarters awaited.

The Battle of Ohara had come to an end.

History had been protected once again.

The World Government had failed.

The world had just witnessed something impossible.

A pirate crew... that could challenge the Marines head-on... and walk away.

And somewhere beyond the endless sea... a new Emperor was quietly approaching.

End of the Ohara Arc.
