Jack knew that poisoning the wells and risking hurting the children and women inside the thieves' base could be wrong to do, but the thieves stole and killed people and soldiers even tortured them if necessary.
The worst thing that could happen was that the thieves decided not to leave their base and continue drinking the poisoned water from the wells if that happened Jack thought it would take a maximum of 3 weeks before they could invade the thieves' base and the thieves would not have more strength to fight.
That would be best because it was less risky for soldiers to get hurt, but Jack wouldn't want that to happen because that way women and children could end up dying without water.
Jack knew that the thieves were smart and would prefer to leave their base to fight the soldiers in order to get clean water from the river before they lost their strength, after all the number of thieves was greater than the number of soldiers.
Jack had prepared this poison too before he came to the mountain, this poison was just to kill people and Jack had two bottles of it because Ron and Mark taught that it might be necessary one day so he had to carry this poison.
Jack went back to where the soldiers were and told them that in a maximum of 3 weeks they could kill the thieves and return to the capital, Jack said that the soldiers just had to wait until the thieves left their base to fight.
Jack called his friends who were the leaders of the groups of archers, soldiers who used the shield and soldiers who used the sword, Jack told his plan to his friends who found the plan cruel, but knew it was the most effective to complete this mission.
So Jack told them not to tell all the soldiers the plans, Jack told Alex to choose the 8 best archers in the group so they would know about his plan because it would be these archers along with Jack and Alex who would send the poison to the thieves' wells.
Jack knew he had 4 wells inside the thieves 'base from what he heard from the thief he captured, yet Jack still went to a tall tree that was higher than the walls of the thieves' base.
It was a big tree that was far from the walls of the base and it was impossible to use that tree to invade the thieves' base, so the thieves never thought about cutting this big tree, Jack climbed this tree being careful that the thieves did not see it.
Jack spent a few hours on a branch looking closely at the base of the thieves and the thieves who were at the base, after several hours Jack can find the 4 wells and confirm that they really only had 4 wells.
Finding the wells was the easiest part of the job, Jack had to put a small pot of poison on an arrow and hit the arrow inside the wells, he couldn't miss an arrow because if he missed the thieves could close the wells and protect them.
It was difficult to put something on an arrow that was a little heavy because it would take the balance out of the arrow and so the arrow would not go in the direction in which it would fire, so Jack planned a very light clay pot with a few drops of poison.
He would put this small pot in the middle of the arrow and would shoot several arrows in each well in order to poison the 4 wells, in addition, Jack and the other archers would have to wait until there was no one close to the well to shoot the arrows which left everything harder.
Jack calculated that 4 arrows with the poison pots were enough to poison the water in each well, so they needed to shoot and hit 16 arrows in the 4 wells, for that Jack asked Alex to select the other archers and he would have to catch some arrows with the same weight as the arrows they would use to train for 2 days.
After those two days, Jack and the soldiers had to be able to hit those arrows, just so they would have time to wait for the thieves to be poisoned to kill them before their food ran out.
The other day Jack called Alex and told him to bring the soldiers he chose so they could start training, the soldiers arrived where Jack was and looked at him differently than before.
At first, they thought Jack was someone very kind and that he wasn't as scary as Captain Max, but on this mission, they saw Jack fight hard, order the soldiers to torture the thief if necessary and now Jack had invented a cruel plan using poison.
Seeing all this happening the archers realized that Jack was scary in the same way that Captain Max was, they imagined that Captain Max would do the same thing that Jack was doing and maybe that was why Captain Max left Jack as leader of this mission.
Of course, the soldiers did not feel sorry for the thieves and knew that Jack was being careful not to kill the women and children who were at the thieves 'base, in fact, the first thing the soldiers thought when they saw the thieves' base was that they could fire arrows into the base.
Some of the houses and parts of the base wall were made of wood and some arrows with fire could kill the thieves or at least make them decide to leave their base to fight, but if they did it was certain that several women and children would die.
So the archers thought Jack's plan was better, but if they had no choice, they would rather kill some women and children than starve to death in the hope that the thieves would leave their base if they did nothing.
Jack knew that the archers already knew what they had to do, so he took everyone to the forest inside the mountain that was close to their camp for them to train, Jack had prepared some targets in some trees that were painted.
"You already know what my plan is, that plan can make the thieves die or decide to leave their base making the fight easier for us."
"But for this plan to work I need you to have a perfect aim, you will have to shoot arrows in 4 wells inside the thieves 'base, and you will have to do it on top of a tree that is well away from the thieves' base."
