There are beings in existence who have moved past the point where process matters to them.
It was not because they began without conscience or without the capacity to weigh the cost of their actions against the outcomes they sought.
Some of them began with both. But somewhere across the span of their existence, across the accumulated weight of setbacks and humiliations and the bitterness of power that arrived too late to save the things it should have saved, the calculation changed.
What they wanted became the only variable. The cost of getting it became a number they stopped looking at.
When beings like this are given weapons, they use them the way anyone uses a tool they've decided they don't have to be careful with. Completely. Without exception. Without regard for what else is in the room.
This is what absolute desperation looks like when it has been given enough power to act.
