Chapter 878 - Chapter 868. The Scandal of The Century

The Incubus System Chapter 868. The Scandal of The Century

She gasped dramatically, like I'd just suggested the scandal of the century.

She covered her chest, taking a few exaggerated steps back. The look she shot me was a mix of shock and disgust, as if I had some grand plan to molest her right then and there.

Rolling my eyes, I clarified, "I'm talking about the power they've taken from you." Half frustrated, half annoyed.

Just because I was an incubus didn't mean my mind was stuck in the gutter.

Realization dawned, and she dropped her hands. "Oh, that. Got it," she said, a playful smirk dancing on her lips. "You know, your mind really does have a one-way ticket to the gutter sometimes."

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "I was talking about the angelic power. Focus."

She shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't know. You're a Nephilim, and you're the only one I've ever met. So, I'm in uncharted territory here."

"Well, you have a point," I mumbled, furrowing my brow in thought. "So, there's no other way but to try it yourself, huh?"

"What do you mean?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

I took a deep breath before laying it all out. "The organization is planning to kidnap me tomorrow and inject a vaccine into me. Supposedly, it's made from your power. I'm just wondering if it can break my angelic seal," I explained.

She tilted her head, skepticism written across her face. "I don't think that's possible," she said.

Leaning back, I sighed. "And the next big question is whether that power can kill me or not," I pondered aloud.

She couldn't hold back a snort of laughter. "Pfft! Of course not," she dismissed the idea with a sneer. "You can absorb power, right? Just do it like that," she casually instructed, as if absorbing potentially lethal power was just a walk in the park.

I raised an eyebrow, slightly amused. "Easy for you to say. I'm not exactly an expert at absorbing powers. What if it goes wrong?" I countered, genuine concern in my tone.

She waved off my worries. "Oh, come on! You're a Nephilim. You've got this. Just think of it like a power smoothie, and you're good to go."

"A power smoothie, huh? Well, let's hope I don't get indigestion," I quipped.

I was deep in thought. 'Absorbing power…' I pondered, my mind drifting to his mention of my Soul Siphon skill. It brought back memories of absorbing power in Myra's lab. 'Why is it that all my memories of seeking power involve pain?' I wondered.

"Okay, no more worry about that," I decided, shaking off the uncomfortable thoughts. I glanced at her, ready to shift the focus. "So, what's on the agenda for today?" I asked.

She nonchalantly shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe you want to hear my story again?" she suggested, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

I couldn't help but think, 'Wrong question, Ethan!' However, an idea sparked in my mind. "I have a better one. You mentioned that colossal eye just wanted to talk, right? What if the three of us engage in a conversation? Perhaps we can unravel something about it," I proposed.

Her eyes widened with interest. "Talk with that colossal eye? Interesting. But how do we even start? Do we just shout into the void or what?" she quipped.

I chuckled at her dry humor. "Well, I was thinking of using your dream spell. You know, connect our minds and see if it responds. It's worth a shot, right?" I suggested.

She raised an eyebrow, considering the proposal. "Hmm, not a bad plan. Let's give it a try. But don't blame me if it doesn't work, okay?" she teased, a playful smirk playing on her lips.

I laughed. "Deal. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?" I said.

Puriel closed her eyes, a subtle frown creasing her forehead, as she initiated her dream spell. I observed her intently, curious to see how this attempt would unfold.

However, as seconds stretched into moments, it was clear something was amiss. Puriel's dream spell faltered. Her brow furrowed deeper, and a hint of frustration flashed across her expression.

"Strange," she murmured, her eyes flickering open to meet mine. "It's not working."

I tilted my head, puzzled by the unexpected hiccup in her usually seamless ability. "What do you mean? Your dream spell always works like a charm."

Puriel sighed. "It seems this spell can't connect with three different beings at once. It's like trying to tune into multiple frequencies simultaneously, and it's causing interference."

My brows knitted in understanding. Three beings. Herself, the colossal eye, and me.

"So, what now?" I asked.

Puriel took a moment to think, her eyes narrowing in thought. "We might need to find an alternative way to communicate with the colossal eye. Perhaps a shared meditation or a focused telepathic link might do the trick. It's uncharted territory, but it's worth exploring."
