The creatures weren't strong, but the terrain gave them an edge. Ryan fumbled through the maze, the fog limiting his vision.
Ryan tried to escape the maze by scaling a building, but thick, silvery webbing blocked his path. Unable to burn or tear through it, he was left with no options.
Since climbing buildings failed, Ryan tried destroying them. He often circled back or ran into spiderling nests after collapsing walls. By luck, he found the shrine's stairway.
As Ryan climbed the stairs, the fog began to disperse, but he noticed something that vexed him.
The creatures chasing him stopped short, snarling and hissing, but refused to follow. Even when Ryan shot and killed a few, they did not attack.
