Averoth was a young boy who worked for a gambling parlor.
The owners hired young children, mostly because their patrons rarely accused the children of rigging the outcome. It was a good way to reduce any wariness their little parlor had.
Averoth was in charge of a dice game, and the card games. As he learned how to do his job, he eventually found he could manipulate the odds to someone's favor. It took a lot of practice, but he eventually got so good at it none of the patrons thought he was manipulating the outcome.
So he rigged the odds in favor to the more generous gamblers. Those who, if they won, were generous to give good tips. The gambling parlor never paid him well after all.
"Aha! Today's a good day! You're my lucky charm Averoth!", a patron boasted with a bottle of booze in one hand.
Averoth smiled pleasantly, "It's all chance sir."
"Sure sure! Take a coin for yourself!"
Expertly accepting the tip Averoth bowed his head as he pushed the winnings towards the patron.
