"Yeah yeah, I know. Gotta get outta here." Speaking to himself, Godspeed turned tail and ran, not even taking a second to admire the total destruction he caused.
Starting his dash, he passed the three Priests, who were all knocked out after watching the crumbling of the church.
"Halt, Terrorist!" Someone stepped in God's direct path.
It was Royce, whom, after watching the fall of the Rebecca Church, chose to put his training to use for the very first time.
"Yield, and turn yourself in peacefully! Else, face the wrath of the Saharan Empire!"
But all Godspeed did was speed up. Seeing this, Royce spun the spear around himself, before getting it into a proper attacking position. The first strike of a spear, as long as it hits the target dead-on, is highly likely to be critical, and that was what Royce was planning on.
The distance between the two men closed quickly. Soon enough, God reached a distance of 5 meters from the man, which also turned out to be the Spear-man's range.
"Take this! Haah!"
All his muscles tensed and bulging, Royce put his complete strength into the swift thrust, targeting Godspeed's Solar Plexus, one of the human's biggest weaknesses.
Shhiiing!----> Crssh!
"How---! GAH!!!"
Before he could begin to understand how the red-clad fist could take the point of the spearhead head on and shatter it, that same red fist met Royce's face, crashing him into a tent 15 yards away, causing the whole structure to collapse, and effectively knocking him out.
'From here on out, it's a straightaway to freedom.' Not being able to help himself, Godspeed congratulated himself with a small smile as he once again upped gears.
"Halt!"
"Oh, come on!" Alas, it seems that his celebration was quickly cut off.
Wondering why his underclassmen was taking so long, Dingo left his post at the entrance of the oasis. Expecting to find the man frolicking around the place, his sweaty face couldn't help but frown as he walked. But, after he saw the smoke coming from behind the running enshawled man, Dingo quickly came to a conclusion and pulled out his arms.
"If you take one more step, I will fire!"
Technically being the commanding officer of the oasis, Dingo took it upon himself to carry a short-bow as proof of his rank. And that short-bow was finally being put to use, as he took aim at Godspeed's vitals.
Step.
There were 100 yards between the two men.
"You asked for it!"
Fwoop!
[You've taken 80 damage.]
'Damn!' Not expecting the arrow to be as fast as it was, God's reflexes proved to be too slow as the fired arrow was able to graze his cheek. Dingo was already nocking his next arrow.
'I was never really the best at dodging projectiles, to be honest.' Those words turned out to be complete lies as his body completely changed behavior and prepared for the incoming arrow.
There were 70 yards between the two men.
After the first shot, nothing was able to hit God. Even as he got closer and his available reaction time got shorter, not even a single cut appeared on his body. Seeing the incoming danger in front of him, the increasingly nervous Dingo tried to test his luck.
Grabbing 2 arrows from his quiver, he nocked them and with all his strength he pulled back the string as far as it could go. He was straining it so much that he could see the fibers peeling off.
"Try this!" he yelled, and the arrows were launched with an incredible ferocity.
FWOO~SH!
There were 20 yards between the two men. But it was enough.
As soon as he saw Dingo's index finger leave the arrow, God ducked. Instead of trying to react, he predicted the next event. It didn't even take the two arrows half a second to reach above him. But it wasn't over just yet. As he duck, he spun around and snatched an arrow mid-air with his left hand.
There were 5 yards between the 2 men. It was over.
"Ah shi---"
Shlick!
With the momentum and his natural strength, piercing the left flank of the armored man was easy.
"Ga-gah...pah, pth..."The blood already filling his mouth, the man's legs gave out and he fell. He was critically injured, but he wasn't dead.
'I made sure to hit him in the left instead of the right for a reason.' If Godspeed chose to stab the soldier at the right, he would of ended up stabbing him right in the liver, effectively killing him off from organ failure.
"As long as the other guy wakes up in time, he should live." With that, he once again began his mad dash to the outside. Once in the desert, he can take off shawl, and nobody will be the wiser when looking at him, expecting nothing from the man that just destroyed a temple of the Saharan Empire's state religion.
With no interruption, he made it into the sand dunes.
