TORREN'S PLAN
Looking at the cashier, seeing Meg, "Sorry, Meg, I didn't recognise you there, as you can see, dad and the children are with me."
"Mr MacCarty, how are you?" Meg asks politely.
"I am good, child, and how have you been keeping?"
"We are doing well, so where are you staying in town?"
"We are staying by the guest house," Torren said.
"Mr MacCarty, you seem to like that guest house very much; you visit twice a year."
"Well, my dear child, the few people I know here, and Shawney have been good to me."
When Torren said, "Meg, why don't you and your family come over for dinner, and you pass on the invite to the others?"
"Torren, Shawney might be displeased if we show up at her place."
"Now, now, why would she be displeased? You are my guest, so don't worry, be there for five, and what time are you closing up here, Meg?"
"I close for four."
"Great, then five is good, and the children could have some time to play together, and Meg, please don't forget to tell the others, I will be waiting."
Watching them walk away thinking, 'Why doesn't he understand? Shawney has been so displeased with our behaviour. And besides that, the way we behave at his home, why would he still want us to come and have dinner with him?'
Thinking about it now, 'And why would he buy a dress for Shawney? Are Shawney and Torren seeing each other?'
At that moment, Uncle Robert's words came to mind, 'He said when she gave what she had, God bless her with better things.
I can see that every time we meet up, we see her being blessed, and he didn't hesitate a minute to pay for the dress.
If only I could get a few customers like him in a day, the business would definitely thrive. Maybe it's time I took her example and started going to church with my family. From what I observed, she doesn't ask people to buy a thing for her; yet they go out of the way, and buy her the best.'
Going to the car, Train said, "Son, Shawney is very uncomfortable with them around her."
"Dad, we are here only for a few days. When we return home, she won't see them for a while. They need to put aside their misunderstanding and make peace. Today we are here, and we don't know what tomorrow may hold. I don't want her to have any regrets."
Considering his son's words, Train was content in his heart that his son was finally making the right decisions in the right frame of mind.
"You are right, my son, but remember you invited people for dinner, so where are you getting food to accommodate all of them?"
"Dad, I am sure that at the reception desk, they can help us with information on a good caterer."
"Yeah, you are right."
Half one, we had gotten a shoe as Tray's gift, hugging Gretta Torren, asking, "And what does my baby girl want to get for her mummy's gift?"
"I want ice cream and cake, Daddy."
"Ooh, yes, I had already forgotten, but we will need more cake, honey."
After resting all the bags in the trunk, Dad decided we should buy lunch. Reading the billboard of the restaurant before entering. Torren recalled that one name in the deed was DK'S Restaurant.
When Dad placed the order, the waitress brought us a mug of juice and glasses, while another waitress brought a plate of appetisers and set it on our table. Hearing Dad telling the waitress, "I didn't order those appetisers."
Smiling, the young waitress said, "I know, Sir, but the manager instructed me to bring it over; it's a complimentary from the house. "Well, will you extend our thanks to the Manager and the house?"
Torren looks around to see who the manager was, knowing the restaurant is in Shawney's name. 'Well, whosoever is the manager, they recognise us.'
After we completed our lunch and paid, we left. Dad seized the opportunity to drive around, and the two children were just so happy to point out the statues and beautiful buildings.
Hearing Tray said, "Daddy, look, there are police cars."
Dad had to tell them. 'It was the Police station,' pointing out the police station, and where the police cars and jeep were parked.
Seeing the park and promenade, Dad stopped for the children to enjoy the bumper cars and carousel.
The children couldn't wait to play. Torren felt joy and excitement just like the children, only this excitement was unspeakable and unexplainable, especially seeing their excitement. He had missed out so much, watching them grow up when he was hospitalised.
As dad drove over the spring bridge, the two children were hugging our necks, squealing in our ear, the way they were scared.
Dad was talking, so they would not cry, but the bridge was swerving and rocking. I was even scared myself.
I could not laugh because it was my first time in a spring bridge myself, but it was a nice experience, scary but nice.
It wasn't the same route we took when we left the village. I know Dad wanted the children to see the beautiful sights.
My Gretta could not stop the chattering, which seems to make dad very happy, especially when she keeps saying Papa, to get his attention.
The drive to the village was longer but very exciting for the children. Entering the village, seeing a major junction.
As I read the signs, I asked Dad to drive towards the direction pointing to Paradise Avenue, "Dad, where do you think that road will take us?"
Driving into the street, it was less than five minutes. Dad wasn't driving fast, so the children could enjoy the view.
The huge palm trees and the many tables built around the trees were awesome. Many families were having a picnic. The sight was magnificent, hearing the children, saying wo....w... and clapping.
When Dad turns right, seeing the beautiful beach and many small boats in rows. As we slowly drove, admiring the view, we passed a few houses, not too big; they were wooden structures, but the property was well-maintained.
