Chapter 13 - FAMILY

Nash's eyes widened as he held the necklace and almost jumping to move away from Ashleah. He tried to hide the necklace again, but failed miserably.

"It was red." Ashleah rose up and faced him directly, no one was backing down. Crossing her arms against her chest with a strong facial expression plastered on her face, the woman was waiting for Nash's answer.

"You keep on imagining things, Ashleah." he swiftly took the necklace away and hid it again inside his pockets, not knowing that Ashleah saw it. He avoided her gaze, grabbing his backpack.

"You going home? Let me go with you!" Ashleah said, attempting to forget about what happened earlier but was completely shocked and left unanswered when Nash just smiled and ran off.

Taking a very deep breath, she snatched her backpack from her chair and walked outside their room. She should just go home and sleep.

As the lights opened, Ashleah lightly scratched her eyes smiling softly when she saw her mom just came home from work. Ashleah's dad was out of town, as for her mother was located near their house.

"Hey mom." She stood up and gave the woman a kiss on the cheek, receiving a light giggle from her.

"You got home early, where's Nash?" Her mom asked. They were so comfortable with having Nash here every single time we go home that when he's not with Ashleah, they ask her where the guy is.

Shrugging her shoulders she sighed and sat on a chair that was in front of her mom. "It was nothing really."

A small laugh escaped the mother's lips as she sat beside the chair of Ashleah, turning around to face her daughter she smiled lightly.

"Well, do you know where his family is?" The question made Ashleah stop, her heart skipped its beat as her hands stopped fidgeting and eyes widening slowly.

She realized that she didn't even bother to ask where Nash's family is. If he was with them or what. She stood up again and wandered around the living room.

"Mom, thank you for that small advice." She smiled, leaving her mom nodding and chuckling at the same time. It was all too cute for her mother to see.

Snatching her phone from the table, she opened her phone trying to find Nash's name from her contacts. Ashleah quickly messaged the man and sighed deeply.

'Hey Nash!! You okay there?? VC bro!'

It took a couple of minutes before Nash answered but she didn't bother, she just wanted him to answer her message.

'Yup, sure.. Uhhh wait for another 30 mins. You can right?'

The woman didn't know how to respond but still continued to type and answer Nash. She just wanted to say sorry.

'Sure!! But why? Is something happening to you? Are you even okay right now?'

No respond. Walking around her room, she couldn't stop biting her nails and tossing her phone. She wasn't relaxed nor calm!

The phone started ringing and she was faster than light to answer the call, all smiles plastered on her face.

"Nash!" She excitedly said it out loud, embarrassed she washed her face using the palm of her hands and laughed awkwardly. 'Can I just die right now?' she thought. Finally stopping from biting her nails, she waited for Nash to speak up.

"What happened to you?" his voice sounded like he was astonished, a playful smile appeared on Ashleah's face as she sat down on the floor, legs are crossed, her head leaning on the edge of her bed as she played with her not-so-long nails.

"Open your camera first!" Ashleah pouted her lips, she was currently facing her phone's camera. A small chuckle escaped Nash's lips as he opened his camera, and there she saw an empty smile that was on Nash's face.

"Okay, here's the thing, I just want to say sorry. I never asked about your family and such, then there I was mad. So yeah, I'm really sorry Nash!" She smiled brightly, waving her left hand that was currently doing a peace sign in front of her camera.

Nash sighed deeply and faced the camera properly and smiled again, but it was empty. There were no emotions in his smile, it made Ashleah worry if Nash was alright. "Yeah, it's fine tho. No need to say sorry. I'm used to it."

A fragile smile formed on Ashleah's lips, "What do you mean that you.. are used to it?" Sadness crossed her face, she bit her lower lip slowly and wandered her eyes around her room.

"They left me, well. I'm used to it." startled, Ashleah almost dropped her phone but luckily catch it on time "HAHAHAHA!" Nash laughed out, his eyes were closed while laughing, a small smile appeared from Ashleah's face. "Calm down, don't be so shocked about my life."

"Left you? Who's providing for you then?" She was devastated about what she heard from Nash's lips. He never looked like he was going through a lot, he was always that guy with a perfect smile plastered on his lips, his red eyes were always bright, he was like a child.

Behind that child image was a person that's been suffering all this time, guilt started to build up inside Ashleah because she never did ask him about his life, it was always about her. Looking directly at her screen, Nash sure was avoiding eye contact.

"They called me and gave me what I need, but still never wanted be. Who would want a child that was made from a mistake right?" He chuckled sadly and covered his eyes using his left arm and leaned his head on his chair.

"A mistake? You were a child made from a mistake?" Her eyebrows furrowed, gulping slowly as his words started to process inside her head. So there was cheating involved.

"My father, cheated on his wife with my mother that time, and here I am. The wife was devastated but at the same time hated me and my mother. I mean, she had the rights to hate us. My mother died while giving birth to me." He removed this left arm from his eyes and faced his screen and smiled painfully, his eyes were holding the sadness that he's been hiding for a long time.

"I am so sorry Nash. You can cry if you want to." Ashlead said in her most comforting voice that she can do, and when she smiled her face softened when she saw how those tear drops that were forming inside Nash's eyes drooped down his cheeks one by one.

A sad giggle escaped Nash's lips, as he puts his phone on a stand and wiped his tears properly but it didn't stopped dropping, it continued to drop. He suddenly started sobbing silently. Ashleah's eyes were worried and sad for him.

The man who always cheers her up is now crying, even though he wasn't in front of her. She lightly hugged her phone as she cried with Nash. Closing her eyes tightly and gulping the lump inside her throat as tears dropped one by one.

As she closed her eyes, she saw someone crying, the woman was kneeling down the floor as she tightly held her blue sapphire. "Duke Deoncan will never do that!" She cried out. The woman slowly turned around as she faced Ashleah, 'I look like her..' Ashleah thought.

Opening her eyes due to surprise, she saw that Nash fell asleep on his desk while crying. Looking at the time, she thought that she also fell asleep while crying with him, she smiled lightly and messaged Nash.

'Have great sleep, Nash. You need it."

She didn't end the call but puts the phone on a stand near her bed and closed her eyes, as soon she closed her eyes she saw the girl crying again, and now she was looking at her. The girl completely looks like Ashleah, the only difference she was wearing a light makeup.

The girl ran, and Ashleah panicked as the girl was running to her direction but she ran through her, Ashleah looked back and her eyes widened when she saw the girl hugging a man.

"Princess Izel, calm down." Blinking her eyes, she covered his lips with her hands and stopped herself from sobbing.

"Duke Nash, I thought you left me!"

And then it hit her like a truck. "I was.. Princess Izel."
