The caged wolf's rage had calmed down after a minute that Ezekiel's presence vanished from the room. Anyone in her sight was prey, an enemy that she only pounced to kill. She was even oblivious if it was much stronger to her. Nothing else mattered, just the urge for bloodshed.
But the beast could still sense a presence outside the door. It thrashed a little less at the metal bars than before. But it remained unaware that the one she had turned aggressive to was lying on the floor outside.
Upstairs, in the office…
Argon leaned back in the chair, fingers tapping restlessly on the laptop as he waited for Calixta's response. Ezekiel had ordered him to reach her the second he left the mansion—the only person who he thought could help them attain an antidote.
The screen remained dark. No notification. No blinking icon.
His gut twisted.
