MAE'S P.O.V
Today is the ball. Last night, the genius James informed that this wasn't a normal ball it was a FREAKING MASQUERADE BALL. He had the nerve to inform us the night before the ball. Adding to my annoyance, my bestie, the great Zes, woke me up with a scream.
Right now, I am standing in the living room with others, including Raven, who I guess just shifted cause she was covering herself with a blanket. I handed her shorts and a hoodie.
"Where is Knox?" She asked hurriedly.
"In our pack, we are also heading there," Reece yawned.
Oh yeah, we agreed that the guys will only see us at the ball, so the guys are heading there.
"I didn't say it back," Zes muttered.
"Shit! I didn't say it back!" She said to herself.
"You didn't say what back?" Raven asked.
"Zes, it's too early for this," I whined.
"Exactly, it's too early, why did he leave?" She asked back.
"What didn't you say back?" I ask.
"Nothing..." She muttered.
"Anyway, James, did you find masks for all of us?" She asked, smiling sweetly, a little too sweetly.
After James' ignorant self informed us it was a masquerade ball. Zes made sure he arranged masks for every one of us before the ball.
James nodded, gulping, making all of us laugh.
KNOX'S P.O.V
I had to leave early with my dad to check that the preparation of the ball was done. The decorations were done by Mom and Mae's mom. They did a wonderful job.
The lighting was simple yet elegant. The hall was already painted beautifully. From the ceilings to the pillars, it was already painted like the royal ballrooms. The chandelier added a more royal look to the hall. It was old-fashioned looking, but it's never old.
The tables were arranged, leaving some space in the center for the dance. Since this ball is for the Alphas, not many tables and chairs were needed; the tables were covered with a white tablecloth and had a flower vase in the middle. long tables for the buffet were also organized on two opposite sides. White curtains hung against the wall, clinging to the fairy lights.
Last night, Zes had a nightmare. I don't know if I should feel sad or bad. While consoling her, I said 'I love you' to her, but I don't think she noticed it.
"Are you okay, Cookie?" I heard my mom ask, making me snap out of my trance.
I nodded at her.
I searched for my dad to discuss the arrangement of the guards.
We have arranged only two guards at the entrance of the venue of the ball, and the rest of the guards will be guarding the rest of the venue.
Once we finally checked everything, I headed to my room to find my tux. I am eager to meet Zes today. She didn't show me her dress, but I know she's gonna look so beautiful. I smile thinking about Zes. Someone impatiently knocked on my door, snapping me out of my fantasy. Letting out a frustrated sigh, I opened the door, revealing James and Reece, a huge smile plastered on each of their faces.
"Excited to find your mates?" I grinned at them.
ZES'S P.O.V
I didn't say it back. I let out a frustrated growl. Since I woke up, this is the only thing that is going on in my head. Zene scolded me a couple of times for being stupid.
I went and stood in front of the mirror and told to the stupid girl in front of me,
"You are stupid, you know? Stupidest human I know!"
I walked to the living room and found the girls.
"I am so stupid," I informed them.
Charlotte looked confused while Raven and Mae nodded.
"Knox said, 'I love you,' but I didn't say it back," I continued.
"You did what?" They chorused.
"I know, I am so stupid..." I ran my hands through my hair.
"No, you aren't stupid, your idiocy is even more than that," Raven muttered.
"Wow, that helped, thank you!" I rolled my eyes.
"I knew you were stupid, but I didn't know it was this serious," Mae mused.
I frowned at her and then scowled.
"Let's get ready," I muttered.
I went to my room and started to get ready. I couldn't help but whenever my mind drifted away, thinking about the possibilities that could ruin the ball. I am honestly frustrated. I just want to kill my sorry excuse of a brother and the anonymous rogue. I snapped out of my daydream as I saw someone snap their fingers in front of me.
Raven stood there, amusement dancing in her eyes. I scowled at her. Her eyes turned serious suddenly.
"I have a feeling something bad is gonna happen today," She informed me.
"Wonderful," I muttered sarcastically.
"We will take care of that later. Now get ready quickly so we can help the others," I ordered her.
"Alright, your highness," She muttered sarcastically, making me roll my eyes.
I decided to help others get ready first. Raven said she is not planning on doing her hair. She was getting ready in my room as I was helping Mae get ready. Charlotte and Raven can do their makeup, even Mae can, but she prefers me to do it for her.
I was now waiting for Mae to come out of the shower. She came out after what felt like hours. I scowled at her as Raven had finished getting ready.
"You look pretty," I smiled at her. She muttered a 'thank you' with a smile
Raven wore a sleeveless dress, which had ruffles on the top. Even through the ruffles, you could see how it perfectly fit her till her waist and then freely flowed down. The dress was an ombre of black from the top to red on the bottom. It started with black ruffles on her chest and ended with red ruffles on the floor. You want to see her heels through the floor length gown, but she wore a matte red heels which had rose gold tiny flower petals decorated around the metallic heel.
"Charlotte wants you to do her hair," Raven informed me.
"Alright, I will go help her out. Can you do Mae's makeup?" I asked her.
She nodded.
"How many hours do we have for the ball?" Mae asked as Raven got into her work.
"2 hours," I said as I headed to Charlotte's room.
"You gotta come here after doing Charlotte's hair, I can't do hair," called Raven.
I went to Charlotte's room and found her already ready, other than the fact that her hair is undone.
"Hair up or hair down?" I asked her.
"Hair down, "She replied with a smile.
I nodded and started doing her hair. I took some pieces of hair from the front and braided them till the back of the head from either side and tied them in a half-up up half-down style.
"Damn girl! Your mate is gonna fall on his knees if he sees you," I whistled.
She blushed and then frowned, making me frown.
"What if he doesn't like me?" She asks.
"Are you kidding me? Knox and Reece threaten tons of guys a day to stay away from you," I rolled my eyes.
"Those three men threaten all the guys who talk to us," She rolls her eyes.
We laughed.
"But girl, you look hot!" I gushed.
She giggled and did a spin, making me laugh.
She wore a light blue round-neck, lace tulle long dress. She had light blue tiny flowers stuck to the netted cloth from top to bottom. Again, you couldn't see the beautiful pair of heels in this long dress, but she wore white heels which were white in the front and had golden glitter in the back, it was an ombre.
I walk to Mae's room to do her hair. I waited as Raven was doing the final touches.
"Hair up or hair down," I asked Mae.
"I don't care what you do, just make sure it stays in one place throughout the ball." She replied.
I rolled my eyes but hummed. As soon as Raven let a hum of satisfaction, I got to work.
After a few minutes, I smiled proudly as I finished doing her hair. I just did a ponytail without using any rubber bands by twisting and tucking her hair.
Mae wore a long lace rose gold gown. It was a tulle dress with layered glittered lace. She wore a flat-heeled rose gold heels, unlike the others who wore pointed heels.
Raven smiled and pushed me to my room. I let out a huff but smiled brightly, excited to get dressed up. I got into my dress and smiled. I love this dress, it was a beautiful ball gown. I quickly started doing makeup. As usual, I didn't cake my face with makeup, I went for a natural look but yet a party makeup.
Happy with how my face looks, I started doing my hair. After getting the satisfaction of perfection of how my hair looks, I looked at the mirror. The dress, the makeup, the hair, and the heels.... Damn.
I did a half-up half-down style, my favorite! My naturally wavy hair makes the look even better. And I wore a blush pink ball gown, strapless. It had a sweetheart neckline. The top was completely embroidered. The gown was fitted till the waist, and it flowed down elegantly from my waist. The embroidered designs disappeared a little further from my waist, and then the light pink embroidered designs reappeared from strands and were completely designed on the bottom of the ball gown.
I wore blush pink pointed heels with the heel decorated with rose gold leaves and flowers.
"Zes, come on our ride is here!" Mae called.
Praying one last time, I walk out of my room. Oh, Moon Goddess, please let the ball run peacefully.
Just as I stepped out of my house, I felt something snap; someone died in my pack! In the que, someone mind linked me.
'Alpha, Queen, we have found three dead bodies on the border.'
KNOX'S P.O.V
With a final look in the mirror, I glanced at James, who was bickering about how his hair was not staying in one place. Reece smacked James's hand off his hair as he tried to mess it up.
"James quit bickering. Reece will help you out, and do not touch your hair," I scolded.
"But it's not fair that your hair listens to you, but mine doesn't give a fuck about what I want!" He pouted.
"I genuinely feel bad for his mate," Reece muttered.
I glanced at them, and we all chose tuxedos that matched our eye color.
I wore a light blue shirt with a blue tie. I wore a blue vest which was embroidered with dark blue designs. The suit coat was dark blue silk cloth with the same designs on the vest on my collar, and my pants matched the suit coat. I also had a handkerchief matching the designs in my pocket.
James wore a white shirt with black buttons and a dark green bow tie, a dark green vest, and a little lighter dark green coat. He matched it with dark green pants.
My man Reece wore a classic suit, white shirt, black bow tie, silk black vest, and a black suit coat. Everything matched with those black pants he wore. Reece and James also wore a white flower brooch.
Reece and James started arguing about something, and that was my que to leave. Trust me, if you get in between their arguing, there is no way out of it. It's annoying as hell.
I walked downstairs to find my mum fixing my dad's tie, while my dad was flirting with her. I smiled at how adorable they are, but I would like to make them embarrassed. I cleared my throat, making my mum blush, and my dad rolled his eyes. I laughed at them.
"Lemme guess..... they were flirting again," Khloe mused.
I nodded, stifling my laughter.
"Stupid children," My dad muttered, making my mom elbow him with a glare.
"Dad, any update on the borders?" I asked him after a few seconds.
Earlier this afternoon, we found one of our guards dead on the border.
"No signs of rogue, " My dad stated and sighed.
I let out a sigh of annoyance. To make my mood even better, someone mind linked me.
'Mate, Alpha Samuel, we have found three dead bodies in my pack border,' Zene informed.
"One peaceful day was all I asked for," I growled.
