Aurora Blaine felt uncertain. She took a spoonful of porridge, quickly swallowed it, and asked, "Did he say anything strange or that made you feel baffled?"
"No," Maverick Knight replied calmly.
To him, those words weren't baffling.
Everything that shouldn't be said was said, revealing his identity, but he didn't tell her his name.
Seeing Maverick Knight's expression, Aurora Blaine believed him.
She didn't ask anything further and quickly finished the porridge in her bowl.
After eating, Aurora Blaine went next door to find Kane Townsend.
She asked again, "Did I act drunk last night?"
"Maverick took care of you. Why don't you ask him?" Kane Townsend retorted.
"He said no."
"Then it must be no. Maverick is a man of integrity. You don't trust him? Besides, what's the point in hiding if you acted drunk?"
That's true.
But Aurora Blaine still felt something was off.
