By the time we stepped back onto the wide, sweeping avenues of the aristocratic promenade, the Aethelgard Dukedom's simulated night cycle had completely taken over.
The Aethelgard architects, for all their insufferable arrogance and heavy-handed taxation, occasionally stumbled into genuine, breathtaking poetry. During the day cycle, the massive obsidian cobblestones paving the upper districts absorbed the intense, magical heat radiating from the golden dome. Now, with the dome's thermal arrays powered down to mimic the freezing ambient temperature of the deep ocean, the stones were actively bleeding that trapped heat back into the freezing air.
The result was a sprawling, city-wide phenomenon of localised condensation.
