Chapter 1 - Robin Hood in Real Life

Nolan Akira Chase is a 26-year-old Wolf furry from the town of Rosedale with excellent grades, loving friends and family, unique talents and capabilities, and aspirations for college. All around, people who know him best see him as a regular "golden boy" who can do no wrong in anyone's eyes. More so, some would say that Nolan is something of an optimistic "teacher's pet," according to most classmates, teachers, and faculty members. Of course, that can make some of his classmates feel somewhat jealous of him, and that unnerves him. Unbeknownst to everyone, Nolan's a white-hat/black-hat hacker with an extremely high IQ, a fierce sense of justice, and knowledge he alone possesses, save for one person in Nolan's family who knows him better than he knows himself: his beloved grandfather. He's known throughout all cyberspace by the hacker aliases "Shadowfox," "Phantomarcher," and "Cybermage." So far, he's been able to keep his regular life and his life on the "Dark Web" separate. Knowing fully well the dangers and consequences of trying to lead a double life without resonating the understanding that anything can happen when one forgets to expect the unexpected. Hacker cells who operate on the dark web are well aware of Nolan and his hacker prowess and skill set, and know better than to make an enemy of him, especially if it means being brutally destroyed when they think that they're better than he is, but learn all too late that he's always three steps ahead of them.

Moreover, when it comes to the well-being of his family, friends, and neighbors, there is no limit he will reach and no law or rule that he won't bypass to ensure that those he cares about are protected and that those who dare to hurt them have been brought to justice, no matter what. Plus, Nolan knows he should be careful not to risk crossing extremely dangerous people. He himself knows what happens to those who 'fly too close to the sun'.

Little does Nolan know that he's starting to pop up on the radar of the police and the FBI, who are either looking to arrest him or to recruit him for greater purposes yet to be known. The fact that he's capable of exposing shady, dangerous dealings to the public makes him extremely practical and brutal when it comes to bringing companies and their laundering fronts to their knees, especially when corporations choose profit over people, and that insufferably chafes Nolan in so many ways that even he can't understand. He also realizes that he'll have to tread carefully to avoid being caught by the joint task force put together by the police and the FBI, with help from the CIA, which feels his unique skill set could be beneficial to them. Nolan begins to feel the noose slowly tightening around his neck, along with the thought of losing traction on the web, on top of the possibility of his secret being exposed to everyone who knows him. It's at this point that Nolan will have to make a choice: Allow himself to be captured? Or utilize everything he acquired to pull off a grand plan to escape and actually have the opportunity to attend college? That's a question that Nolan will likely have to answer himself before it's too late.

Given his circumstances, Nolan isn't sure who he can turn to in his time of need. But, chances are, it will be the one person, like his father, who is his greatest hero.
