Chapter 13 - CHAPTER XII:Currently Wishing Medea Was Here.

The sea was calm as glass. Of course it wouldn't stay that way for long. The silver moon reflected off the sea, as the rowers moved the ship forward.

Olivia stared out at the ocean as if looking forward to our adventure, or just enjoying be so close to home. We all took turns changing out of our uniforms. Olivia wore a cyan tank top, khaki shorts, and green flip flops. To top it off, she wore her gold trident pendant. Olivia's blonde hair moved perfectly in the wind. Penny walked up to me wearing her standard clothes as well grey shirt and jeans, black boots, and an owl bracelet.

"Thank you again Mary for including me in this quest." Penny said smiling.

Penny's grey eyes sparkled with joy, and her hair light brown hair flailed about in the wind. I smiled slightly and nodded.

I continued to watch the sea as Mino's eagle flew down the perch on the railing on the side of the ship. He walked up with Seth. Seth wore a denim jacket, a black undershirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. He looked like a normal teenager. Even with his unnaturally black hair and dead grey eyes. Mino on the other hand, looked like a kid you'd see in hot topic. Black shirt with a lightning bolt, black shorts, and black adidas shoes. Other than the scabbards and arrow quivers, we looked like normal teenagers.

The ship went through the ocean, cutting through waves, smoothly.

"Does everyone here have Poseidon's favor?" Seth asked jokingly.

The group nodded, and Seth smiled as he went below deck to manage the dead. Mino walked away to be lookout, but Penny stayed behind.

"What are out odds of surviving this quest?" Penny asked.

"Realistically? None." I answered.

"Figured. We're getting sent out here to groups of islands to look for something we don't know anything about that could be anywhere." Penny said.

"Don't forget that this isn't the only location we have to go to." I said messing with my necklace.

Penny leaned against the railing and sighed, "Who could even raid a vault of the gods?" She asked.

"A demigod, another god, a smart enough monster...." I said trailing off.

Penny nodded and looked down thinking. "A minor deity or rustic god....." She said.

"Like Pan, or Janus." I answered.

"Oceanus, an agent of Atlas." She continued.

"Titans and their agents are a definite no. The gods would've definitely sensed them." I answered.

Penny nodded and stared out at the ocean. "Your hair reflects the moonlight perfectly." Penny said trying to change the topic.

"Thanks." I said smiling.

The ship continued to row, and I saw it. After hours of sailing, I saw the mythical Charybdis and Scylla off in the horizon. They were waiting patiently for us in two, calm, twin mountains at the beginning of a strait.

I watched as the ship moved towards the mountains as the sea became glass and the wind stopped, "Hey Olivia! You think you can assist us here?!" I called out.

Olivia looked at me grimly and shook her head "Even my dad isn't a match for Charybdis' power." She said.

"Sail for Scylla, and get the dead on board!" Mino called out.

"Seth! We need a dozen bodies on deck!" Odysseus yelled.

"God I wish Medea was here." Jason blurted out, watching the water.

Seth ran out with some of the dead following, each wearing Spartan attire and carrying Spartan weapons. Seth looked even paler than usual. If the moonlight shined on him directly he would vanish.

"Seth. You ok?" Penny asked.

Seth nodded slowly, but I knew his power was running thin. As powerful as we were, even Demigods had their limits. He was the most powerful out of the two of us, and seeing him weakened disheartened me early on into the quest.

"All demigods get below deck!" Adam yelled running below.

I followed with everyone else as the dead soldiers stayed behind. Seth moved to the end of the rowing stations with Olivia and sat down with her. Olivia began to meditate telling Seth how to guide the Argo. Penny and I sat down near some barrels as the ship cut through the water.

"So....you ever come out here before?" Penny asked.

"Once, but I flew in with Perseus." I answered.

The thought of purposely going through the strait scared me. I thought that we could fly in again, until I realized that one Seth has a fear of heights, and two Adam can't fly at night.

Above I could hear the dead Spartans scrambling to get into formations. I took a deep breath and commanded them as best as I could.

"Penny. I'm gonna need that Athena battle strategy." I said, my body tensing as I took command of the officers on deck.

Penny began telling me orders for the soldiers, as the ship moved through the strait. I willed the Spartans to follow all the orders I was given with great difficulty. For people who don't raise the dead often, they only listen to the person who raised them. You could be their old general, and they would only listen to their new commander. However, this rule didn't exactly apply to children of Hades. It's just really difficult for us to will soldiers we didn't raise.

The ship continued through, and I felt Scylla's snakes banging against the ship as we continued on. I could feel the panic and hurt of the undead as they tried to defend us. I winced when two soldiers were pulled off the ship. The ship continued past. Four more soldiers were taken off the deck, and my concentration broke. I fell off my seat, and Penny caught me. Just in time, I thought, six was all Scylla needed.

The ship finally got out of the strait, and we moved through the waters peacefully. I stood up, and felt exhausted.

Penny sat me back down "Whoa whoa whoa...get some rest Dead Hair. I'll go up top and handle everything from there. I'll come get you if something comes up." Penny softly called, sitting me down.

I nodded and slowly passed out where I was, then that the dream came. The depths of dreams carrying my soul across the water, allowing me to see all I could. The can of worms I was about to open would only be the first of many mistakes I made along this journey.
