On one side, a vicious empire that had a justified reason for their invasion, sort of.
On the other, a peaceful theocracy that had definitely earned their karmic retribution, sort of.
And in the middle of this, a mildly greedy man was trying to steal away their main source of conflict for his own purpose.
"Ugh, why couldn't this stupid fucking flame be found in the heart of a giant demon volcano or something?" Zhen Liu griped as he looked over the lists once more, grimacing at the thought of helping one side over the other. "At least that way, I don't have to get involved in political intrigue...again."
This wasn't the first time Zhen Liu had to deal with political sins of the past affecting the present, but this was the first time he had to deal with something so incredibly nuanced.
After all, all of the factions he had to deal with up until then had ostensibly villainous roles in his life and the lives of others.
