Chapter 289 - The Evil Demon

"I can't believe we were betrayed!" The demon leader bemoaned as he slashed apart possessed human after possessed humans.

"Sucks doesn't it?" Helena called.

"What? What do you mean?" the leader frowned.

"You mind controlled Roko into betraying us and now you're getting betrayed."

"We mind controlled that human into joining us?"

"Yeah. That's what the crown is for, isn't it?"

"I mean, he kinda just showed up, crown and all."

"So...you all weren't in on it?"

"No."

"So...Olivia was the one who decided to mind control Roko?"

"I mean, I guess?"

"...Huh. Who even is Olivia anyway?"

"You guys don't know her?"

"No? Why would we?"

"Huh. That's funny. Olivia talks about Roko all the time."

"...Damn Roko." Helena muttered, "I didn't think you had game like that. Does Corissa finally have competition?"

"Who cares who that big titted demon is?" Roland scoffed, "Hey, you! Where did that big titted demon go?!"

"...Olivia or Morgan?"

"Are demonesses usually that va-va-voom?" Helena asked.

"I mean...usually. We are meant to tempt humans so a lot of us are naturally...temptatious. We do have other sizes available though."

"You're saying there are women bigger than Olivia?! Are there any on Corissa's level?!"

"Can you focus for once?!" Roland shouted, "Who cares about demons and how fat their tits are?!"

"And how juicy their ass are." Helena added.

"And how juicy their ass are." Roland nodded.

"...Is this sexual harassment?" The demon leader asked.

"You tell me, Mr. 'Human with the celestial body'."

"As a demon, I hate fair play." the demon scowled.

"WHERE IS MORGAN?!" Roland screamed.

"THAT WAY!" Their leader screamed back even louder and angry than Roland and pointing at the direction where the possessed humans were coming from, "If you can get through all that then by all means, go ahead!"

"Why aren't YOU doing anything?!"

"Why did you ask me if YOU'RE not gonna do anything about it?!"

"Because you're DEMONS! You should be able to handle things like this no problem!"

"Oh and that means we just have to do whatever you say then? Give me a break. Even if I wanted to do something, I ain't gonna do it now."

"Grrrr…." Roland scowled.

"Not as easy as Roko makes it seems, huh?" Helena smirked.

"Shaddup! Then I'll handle all this myself then!" Roland snapped.

"Go on then, king. Kill them all with the power of your 70 push-ups."

"I did a full 100, thank you very much!" Roland cried as he headed towards the approaching monsters.

With that, Roland ran off into the horde, swords swinging through the tide of monsters, keeping himself safe but not really making much progress.

"...Hey demon, mind if I confess something?" Helena asked.

"I don't think I'm gonna have much of a choice here." the demon rolled his eyes.

"Sometimes I wonder if it's actually hard being Roko or if it's just much easier being Roland."

"...That's deep," The demon nodded, "Are you not going to help?"

"I am." Helena said, sniping some of the monsters that were starting to flank Roland, "You keep doing you though, demons. I'm sure you can get to Morgan on your own."

"...Why does it feel like you're using me now?"

"You tell me, I'm just innocently telling you that you're free to do whatever."

"...You're just waiting to let us do most of the work for you aren't you?"

"I think you're just being paranoid, buddy."

"Yeah, no, how about you do something for us first?"

"We are, Roland's leading the charge."

"..."

"...Aight, well, it was nice talking to you, demon. I'll see you when we find Morgan, I guess."

"...Dammit. Men! Mobilize and push these monsters back! We're getting to Morgan first, you hear!"

"Y-Yes sir!"

"Man, maybe being Roko is easier than I thought." Helena smirked.

Morgan looked up at the stars that were starting to show in the twilight skies. Roko and Olivia still haven't shown up. Whatever preparations they were making, it was making her deathly curious. They were a frightening combo to be sure. She didn't really understand who or what Roko was but he made a frightening asset for Olivia. If they continued to grow even stronger...then perhaps she wouldn't have had to use the grimoire. All her work was now being slaughtered by both humans and demons anyway. She'd be more distraught if she actually thought any number of these human husks could accomplish her goal. Roko and Olivia on the other hand...if they continued to grow at the rate they were then perhaps they could have done it instead. ...Then again, knowing Olivia-

Morgan's thoughts were interrupted by a shadow lunging at her from behind. Her arm shot out and grabbed it from the air. The moving blob of flesh struggled in her hands, trying to climb up her arm but struggling in her heated grip.

"...Were you nervous that I'd abandon you?" Morgan sneered as she squeezed the monster, "Don't be stupid. I've committed too much and made too many enemies to go back now. If Olivia really can do something on her own for once then she'll have to get through me first."

And with a disgusting smell of burning flesh, Morgan crushed the monster in her hands before returning to glare at the monsters on the field. None of them even seemed to have paid even an ounce of attention to their attack on her and they still seemed to be following her orders. An audacious betrayal or at least an attempt at one.

"With friends like these, who needs enemies?" Morgan sighed.

"Morgan!"

A few flying demons had finally made their way over her horde to her. Long time colleagues but no one she actually care about anyway.

"What is the meaning of this?!" One demanded as they landed in front of her.

"...What do you mean?" Morgan scoffed.

"Have you really betrayed us?"

"You always did need pointless clarifications, Smith." Morgan sighed, "Annoying but it's what made you a perfect vice-captain. Shame no one ever had the guts to tell you how truly irksome your habit was."

"Wh-what do you-" Smith stumbled back from her cutting words, "Can you at least not refer to me by my disguise's name at least?!"

"Then stop using my disguise's name then." Morgan shrugged, "Surely you remember my name right?"

"Uhhh…."

"No? Would you like to phone a friend then?" Morgan pointed at the other four flying demons who had landed with Smith, "Any of you know my demon name?"

The other demons scratched their heads, unable to recall Morgan's original name.

"Oh but don't worry about it, Smith." Morgan sneered, "It's been a good month or three by now right? No wonder we can't remember each other's original names."

"T-That's besides the point." Smith growled, "Why did you side with these monsters?"

"I think I've sufficiently demonstrated why I have no loyalty with you all." Morgan crossed her arms, "We share nothing in common aside from hate for humans."

"That's...that's why we're all here though aren't we?" Smith frowned, "We work for the Demon King. We seek to end humanity!"

"You can fly a banner but that doesn't mean all who walk under it truly reflects it."

"What do you mean?"

"Some of us were just born on this side. Raised with these ideas and inheriting hate as if it were an heirloom."

"Are you saying you feel sympathy for the humans?"

"Me? Perish the thought. I've never met a worthwhile human. Well...until recently I suppose. But then again, I suppose he's already taken now."

"Is this jealousy?"

"For a human? Don't make me laugh. I have no love for humans. But I bear no hate for them either. So let me ask you, Why should I fight this war for you?"

"...You...then why did you help us? You made our disguises!"

"Because while I don't care for any of you, I do care for one person. She simply hasn't arrived yet."

"...Is this because you're getting Brian'd?"

"...Are you all brainrotted? Why is always romance with all of you?"

"Wh-aw come on, you gotta be aware of how this looks right?"

"Enlighten me."

"You know...cause...you...and Olivia..."

"..."

"..."

"Go on. Don't be shy now. Please. Tell me why you think me and Olivia are romantically inclined. Tell me why you pay attention to that kind of stuff instead of my actual name."

"...You will pay for betraying us!"

In a panic, Smith lunged towards Olivia with his claws outstretched towards her. In an instant, Morgan closed the distance and struck first, shoving an open palm straight in Smith's chest and sending him flying back.

"Ow!"

"Smith!"

He was quickly caught by the friends before he could fly off the roof but it seemed like Morgan had knocked the air out of Smith for now.

"How...how are you this strong?" Smith grunted.

"Did you really think all that eldritch magic did nothing for me personally?" Morgan crossed her arm, "Please. I knew you were an idiot, Smith, but I didn't think you were braindead."

"But if you think a little bit of enhanced strength will beat us, you're sorely mistaken." Smith said as he was slowly let back up onto his knees, "Roko prepared us just for this moment. We've gotten stronger than you could possibly imagine."

"Good thing I'm not very imaginative then." Morgan smirked, "I'll just take your powers for myself then."

"Huh?"

As Smith replied with confusion, the place where Morgan had struck began moving. A small patch of flesh that she had slapped onto his chest that expanded quickly, overtaking Smith in an instant and even latching onto the demons around him in seconds. The demons struggled to pull off this parasite at first but it was damn near impossible to get rid of. Even ripping it into pieces left the pieces clinging to their hands and expanding independently until it joined back with the main body. Eventually even the demons stopped struggling and their arms hung low as the flesh reformed around them into a hood that left no light in their eyes.

"Really should've anticipated something like that, Smith." Morgan sneered as she ran a finger around Smith's slack and expressionless face, "You were dealing with the mastermind. Did you think you demons were immune because none of you were ever captured by these parasites? I was only being merciful. Now you're all mine, Xanalos."

"So you're the mastermind. Good to know."

An unknown voice cut into Morgan's gloating. She tried to escape in her shock but it was too late as her side was knicked with an unknown knife.

Clutching her wound, Morgan retreated as she turned in midair to find...a human? A human woman with long black hair had somehow sneaked up behind her and slashed her with a strange knife. A human knight with a sword and shield seemed to join her side as she stood there already looking like she had won.

"Who is this, Lady Kaguya?"

"Well, if I had to guess...this is Morgan."

"How'd you know?" Morgan frowned.

"Black hair. Blue Eyes. Huge knockers."

"Ah. Right."

"Olivia was looking for you."

"So I heard." Morgan scowled, "What did you do to me?"

"Just a little bit of poison." Kaguya smiled, "Glad to see it works on demons. Was a little worried about that."

"I'm surprised you even have a poison that works on demons." Morgan scowled, "Only especially powerful poisons work on use demons. Who are you?"

"Princess Kaguya of the country, Fuyuki." Kaguya announced, "For the foreseeable future, I'll be here to entertain you until everyone else gets here."

"You think a little bit of poison puts you over a demon?" Morgan scowled, "All I have to do is wait for the poison to wear off while you play with my new old...workmates."

Smith and his flying troops stepped forward to protect Morgan.

"Oooo, so scary." Kaguya smiled, "If only we had some help. Isn't that right...Brian?"

And at that moment a shadow covered Morgan from behind.
