"Alright, what do you want?" the young man asked as he closed in on Alex. He stayed far enough away that the staff wouldn't intervene, but close enough that the conversation remained private.
Alex looked at the man and shrugged. "I told you. If you can afford to pay for it, just bid."
"No, I'm not talking about money," the young man said. "There must be something else you want. Our Jin family has great connections throughout this city. If you back out, I will help you get in contact with some important people."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Who exactly?"
The young man hesitated for a moment. He looked around briefly before turning back.
"My father is a friend of the caretaker of this pavilion. He's also friends with one of the bigger alchemists working here. I can ask him to help you make connections. You surely want great pills, don't you? My father can help you get a discount."
"Don't listen to him!" the woman suddenly spoke aloud, moving closer as well.
