The Learning Path is almost finished with you.
The words lingered in the cold air.
Feroz remained silent.
For the first time since entering the Learning Path...
he wasn't thinking about another question.
He was thinking about leaving.
Leaving the Village of Echoes.
Leaving Suleiman.
Leaving Mariam.
Leaving the old keeper of the Hall.
Leaving...
this older version of himself.
Somehow...
the thought felt heavier than expected.
The older Feroz turned away from the Echo Well.
"Come."
Feroz followed without asking where.
The underground chamber remained silent.
Only the distant whispers continued rising from the well behind them.
Neither of them spoke.
They crossed the ancient stone bridge.
Golden lanterns floated overhead.
Their reflections shimmered across the polished black floor below.
The deeper they walked...
the fewer lanterns remained.
Eventually...
they reached another passage.
Unlike the others...
this one was completely empty.
No carvings.
No symbols.
No doors.
Just smooth stone stretching ahead.
Feroz frowned.
"I've noticed something."
The older Feroz glanced sideways.
"What?"
"There aren't many people here."
The older Feroz smiled.
"Correct."
"The Village was full."
"Yes."
"The Hall had almost no one."
"Yes."
"And this place..."
Feroz looked around.
"...is completely empty."
The older Feroz nodded.
"As it should be."
Feroz waited.
No explanation came.
He sighed.
"I suppose I'm supposed to ask why."
"You are learning."
Feroz rolled his eyes.
"Why?"
The older Feroz answered immediately.
"Because the deeper you walk into truth..."
"...the fewer people can walk beside you."
Silence followed.
The words settled heavily inside him.
"The Learning Path becomes quieter..."
"...not because people disappear."
"...but because fewer people choose to continue."
Feroz looked ahead.
"So everyone doesn't reach this far."
"No."
"What happens to them?"
"They stop."
"They leave."
"They choose another road."
"Or..."
The older Feroz paused.
"...they mistake an answer for the truth."
Feroz looked at him.
"There's a difference?"
"A very dangerous one."
They continued walking.
The corridor slowly widened.
Feroz noticed old footprints in the dust.
Hundreds of them.
Some large.
Some small.
All leading forward.
None returning.
He stared at them.
"No one comes back?"
"They do."
The older Feroz smiled.
"But they never return as the same person."
That answer somehow made perfect sense.
After several more minutes...
they entered a quiet stone chamber.
Unlike every room before...
there was nothing remarkable inside.
No glowing symbols.
No strange books.
No impossible doors.
Only four stone benches arranged in a square.
The older Feroz sat down.
For the first time...
he looked tired.
Not physically.
Something deeper.
Feroz remained standing.
"This doesn't look like another lesson."
"It isn't."
"What is it?"
"A rest."
Feroz blinked.
"A rest?"
The older Feroz nodded.
"Every journey reaches a place where learning stops for a moment."
"So you can breathe."
"So you can think."
"So you can decide what to carry with you."
Feroz slowly sat opposite him.
Silence filled the room.
After everything he had experienced...
the silence itself felt peaceful.
Then...
Feroz asked quietly,
"Were you real?"
The older Feroz looked at him.
"What do you think?"
"I think..."
Feroz hesitated.
"...you're more than a memory."
"And less than a person."
A faint smile appeared.
"That is close enough."
"So you really are one possible future?"
"Yes."
"Only one?"
"Only one."
Feroz lowered his eyes.
"What happened to your world?"
For several moments...
the older Feroz did not answer.
Then...
he spoke softly.
"I kept believing that if I learned one more truth..."
"...everything would finally make sense."
His voice remained calm.
"But truth without action becomes another prison."
Feroz listened carefully.
"I stayed too long."
The words echoed quietly inside the chamber.
"I kept searching."
"I kept asking."
"I kept waiting until I understood everything."
A sad smile crossed his face.
"The world didn't wait for me."
Silence.
Feroz suddenly understood why this version of himself looked so lonely.
He hadn't failed because he was weak.
He had failed...
because he waited too long.
The older Feroz looked directly into his eyes.
"Remember this."
"There will come a day..."
"...when you won't know enough."
"You will still have to choose."
Feroz remained silent.
"You cannot wait until every answer arrives."
"Because they never do."
The lesson struck him harder than expected.
Every hall...
every question...
every trial...
had taught him to think.
Now...
he was being taught something equally important.
Eventually...
thinking must become action.
The older Feroz slowly stood.
"The Learning Path has given you what it could."
Feroz looked up.
"Not everything?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because no path can replace living."
Those words reminded him of Qadir.
His father had searched.
Then he had left.
Not because the Hall had failed him...
but because life itself held the remaining answers.
The older Feroz walked toward the far wall.
For the first time...
a doorway appeared there.
It hadn't existed before.
Or perhaps...
Feroz simply hadn't been able to see it.
Warm light spilled through the opening.
The older Feroz stopped beside it.
"This is as far as I can walk with you."
Feroz slowly stood.
He looked at the doorway.
Then back at the man who had guided him through the deepest parts of the Learning Path.
A strange sadness settled inside him.
He had countless questions left.
But somehow...
he knew they no longer belonged here.
The older Feroz smiled.
A genuine smile.
"You are ready for the last step."
Feroz took a slow breath.
Then asked one final question.
"When I leave..."
"...will I remember you?"
The older Feroz was quiet for a long moment.
Then he answered.
"You won't remember every word."
"But when the time comes to choose..."
"...you'll remember the lessons."
He stepped aside.
The doorway stood open.
Waiting.
And beyond it...
for the first time since entering the Learning Path...
Feroz could feel something familiar.
Not the Hall.
Not the Threshold.
The world.
Waiting for him.
