The killing happened on a Tuesday, in the market district's northwestern corridor, between a warrior named Gar'rak of the former Black Tree Tribe and a civilian track worker named Pesh whose assignment was the record-keeping for the market district's supply intake and whose record-keeping had, on the preceding three occasions, identified discrepancies in Gar'rak's declared goods that the market overseer had acted on with the modest penalties that the market's informal dispute mechanism provided.
Gar'rak was a 2nd Realm warrior, which in the orcish constitution meant a body that was faster and stronger than a civilian worker by the margin that the 2nd Realm's enhancement provided. The margin was not exceptional by the standards of the Horde's combat-qualified warriors, most of whom operated at 3rd Realm and above, but it was exceptional by the standard of a single civilian worker whose job was counting.
Pesh had found a fourth discrepancy.
