Someone asked in confusion,
"Ma'am, have you also seen the Pill?"
"Is there something wrong with it? What's the matter?"
The female teacher's voice was cold.
"There are tally marks carved on the Pill with a fine needle."
Someone beside her spoke up.
"Tally marks? Is that master recording how many Pills they've refined?"
"Is that a rule in Medicine-Refining?"
An Alchemist from the nearby Cold Rain Academy asked blankly,
"What tally marks?"
Nan Ying spoke coolly.
"It's a rule for the Alchemist students at Qinghuang Academy. One stroke represents one refined Pill. They mark it on the Pill with a fine needle to avoid miscounting."
After all, the Pills refined at the very beginning aren't valuable. The important thing is how many *good* Pills one can produce.
The Alchemist from Cold Rain Academy nodded.
"Oh, no wonder our academy doesn't have that rule. It seems it's unique to Qinghuang Academy."
As soon as the words fell, Su Ye coughed out a mouthful of tea.
