Headmaster Lorten is a prominent figure in the field of magical arts of current era. He is one of the top magicians of the empire. Due to his achievements, he is known throughout the continent. And this high acknowledged magician is serving as the current head of academy. High rank nobles attend here so they can have his personal guidance, though catching his eye is very difficult. And now me, the slacker is here in front of his office. In front of his office there was a magic barrier. But for now it was deactivated. Maybe it is to keep unwanted people from entering inside. Then he must have some treasures inside. Thinking of seeing some treasuresI knocked the door and asked
"Can I come in?"
"Yes."
I entered the office. Then I saw that office was visibly simple. There were not much extravagant decorations. Though some magic artifact and some formations were casted on different places. And the headmaster was near a bookshelf. He came and sat on his seat. Then he looked at me. He asked me
"So Eric. Why were you sleeping?"
Then I replied
"Ceremony was a bit late. And I was bored. That's why I thought of taking a short nap. But I never intent to disturb during the speech."
He then looked at me. But from his face, I could tell that he is trying find something about me. Then he tapped his index finger on desk. And the magic barrier which was outside was activated. Then he used 'intimidate'. It is a skill makes other feel overwhelming fear. It is very useful when you are fighting monsters. It makes them run away, and even if they intent to fight, it makes the moves of opponent sluggish because of fear. But if your opponent have good mental power or if is stronger than you then the skill doesn't work. And I am both, have mental power better than headmaster and is also stronger than him. That's why it is not working on me. But the skill he used is indeed terrifying. Worthy of being top ten magicians. Due to barrier it is not leaked outside. Otherwise everybody on the campus, would be on their knees trembling with fear. Then he asked
"Who are you? And don't give any excuses."
The face was headmaster was very terrifying. He was on ultra angry mode. And from his face he was giving a message like if lie I will kill you. Maybe he is doing this as his position in school. He must have thought that I am a suspicious person because I am very strong. He must have known that I am very lazy due to rumors. But the rumors never tell anybody that I am waste. The rumors where that the third son of Duke is very lazy and don't do anything. But it doesn't say that I am waste which doesn't have any aptitude for magic. I understood that he may be warning me so that he can protect the school but I don't like when somebody give me a warning. If he asked in a normal manner than also I would have answered. But his manner makes me angry. But still I controlled myself and said
"First, can you please stop your skill. It is flawed and it doesn't work on me."
The headmaster seeing me knew that it doesn't work on me. He stopped. Then I answered
"I am Duke Valhard's third son Eric Valhard. The last disciple of Great magician Valhard and the one who received his legacy."
Hearing this, he was shocked. Then he asked me that how I received Valhard's teachings. I told him that when I found his legacy, there was a piece of soul of Valhard who taught me. Then headmaster's cautiousness faded. Then he said
"Sorry for my rude behavior. I thought that maybe you are an imposter pretending to be Eric Valhard. But still I want be sure. Can you let me see you status ?"
I agreed and showed him my status. He confirmed my name. Then he see my level. He was shocked to see that I am is in 12th magic tier. The magic level or magic tier. Here your magic levels can be known by counting the numbers of magic circles inside your body. And this circles are called tiers. The lowest is no tier or 0 tier. The highest is 13th tier. And above 13th tier is called as god tier. Though very less person can go upto 13th tier. It is like drawing out royal straight flush out of deck of cards. Most people can reach upto 9th tier in good guidance. And above that is a very difficult. The headmaster is in 11th tier. Most top magicians are either 10th or 11th tier. Though the top of the top ten is of 12th tier. Though I don't know the name of the person.
That's why old man was shocked. Though he was shocked. Then he coughed a bit. I handed him a glass of water which was on the desk. He drank and then asked l
"So why have you enrolled here? You can easily be top magician."
"Sir, I don't want recognition or duties. I want to live an ordinary and peaceful as well as lazy life. And due to my father's order, I am here."
When I told him he nodded and agreed with my reasoning. It seemed that this old man is good than the old man Valhard. The old man Valhard tortured me inside the ring in excuse of magic training. So I am a bit happy that somebody is nodding in my reasoning. But suddenly he stopped then smiled in a creepy way. Then he asked
"Eric my boy?"
I said
"Yes, Sir?"
"I am the headmaster of the school. Yes or no?"
I again replied
"Yes sir."
Then he said
"If you don't follow my orders, what will happen?"
"If I don't follow your orders I will be expelled. That's why I have to follow your every command."
For some reason my instinct is telling me to that there is a danger. Like it was warning when Valhard was telling me that being strongest will grant me ordinary life.
Then the headmaster said
"So, my boy from now on you have listen to my orders you don't want to be expelled. Haha!!"
Then I saw the face of headmaster. It was like a boy who is playing with a toy. Then i understood that I have been preyed by a big predator. If I don't listen to his words then I will be expelled. And then my father will disown me and then my ordinary life with end even before start!!! The headmaster mocking face reminded me of old man Valhard. Then I knew that both of them are demon. I felt sorry for thinking that this old man is different from Valhard. And i swear that in my other life i will curse them.
And that's how the strongest magician have become a slave of the headmaster of the Cornia magic academy.
