The big Country A trip was just two days away.
I sat up, clapped my cheeks lightly to reset my brain, and opened my suitcase.
The fall weather in Country A meant layers — sweaters, scarves, coats, boots. Basically: cute things that would make me look like a Pinterest board.
I pulled my wardrobe open and started picking outfits like my life depended on it.
"Okay… cable knit beige sweater for cafés… check.
Black turtleneck dress for city strolls… check.
Cream coat… maybe too warm? No, keep it.
Denim skirt with tights… cute."
I tossed them onto my bed in a neat pile.
I reached for a scarf when my hand brushed something on my dresser.
My jewelry box.
I paused.
Inside, nestled among earrings and delicate pendants, was Andy's bracelet — the simple silver one he'd given me before he left for Country A.
I opened the lid and looked at it.
It was nice. Clean design. Very him.
I smiled.
A warm, friend kind of smile.
