(Michelle Lui's POV)
The Physics laboratory ended exactly as one would expect:
chaos, confusion, at least three burnt wires, and Vince screaming "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE" even though he wasn't even in this class.
My brain felt like scrambled eggs.
The moment the professor dismissed us, everyone bolted for the door like prisoners being released from a war bunker.
Lara was packing up quietly, Jasmine stretching her arms, Anthony pretending he understood the entire three-hour experiment.
And Steven—
Steven was already done packing.
Standing.
Waiting.
Not for the door.
For me.
He didn't say anything.
He didn't motion.
He didn't even glance in my direction right away.
He just waited, hands in his pockets, posture relaxed, like this was the most natural thing in the world.
Which was ridiculous.
Nothing about this situation was natural for my heart rate.
