Lance didn't even wait for Soren's answer. He simply turned and strode out, leaving the air colder in his wake.
Almost immediately, another figure stepped out of the shadows—silent, masked, unreadable.
Without hesitation, the figure grabbed hold of Soren's cable-tied wrists.
Soren jerked violently in response, but the lingering sedation dragged through his limbs like thick mud, slowing him, weakening him.
"What do you guys want?!" he demanded, struggling with every breath.
The masked figure stayed utterly still, giving no reaction, no voice, no explanation.
Then, with a sudden pull, the figure released the restraints from the gurney and dragged him by his bound wrists, forcing him off it.
"Stop! Stop it! Where are you taking me?!" Soren braced his feet against the floor, trying to resist, but his strength was nothing compared to the figure's overwhelming force.
