Ryley's frantic demands to speed up only made Mitchell's thumbs fly across his contact list faster.
Before he could place a call, a sudden vibration rattled the device as an unexpected number flashed on the screen.
"Yes?" Mitchell answered quickly, instantly switching it to speaker.
"I heard the news from your staff. I am in the panel room right now," Maximilian's voice cut through the static, urgent yet tightly controlled. His eyes sharply scanned the wall of security monitors. "They never left the headquarters. The initial itinerary was canceled."
Ryley didn't hesitate. He snatched the phone right out of Mitchell's hand.
"Where are my children?! Where are they now?!" Ryley's voice cracked, tears finally spilling over as pure terror took over. "Mervyn took them—he's going to kill them!"
