Sonia fell into the deep sea, the impact slicing across her face, tightening around her waist and abdomen.
The seawater invaded her eyes and nose, the sour sensation spreading from her respiratory tract to her eyeballs.
Bubbles gurgled past her, escaping the water's surface one after another, breaking, breaking, breaking… When the last bubble burst, Sonia could no longer hear any sound, as if the whole world consisted only of her and the pitch-black deep sea.
This is death.
Sonia felt a surprisingly serene calm in her heart.
Unable to hear anything, she need not worry about words.
Unable to see anything, she need not fret over reality.
Only herself alone sinking in the deep sea, making the whole world unrelated to her.
Her heart was empty, yet she felt an incomparable peace.
