Chapter 1 - Elemental

The sun rose high, and he felt his hair burning from the heat, his whole body was dry as if water was a myth in his current condition. He had no idea what had just happened, in his memory, he just died, and then there he was, lying in a field of hot land, or more accurately, desert. He felt like something is missing in between but he was too exhausted to be confused

He was feeling very exhausted, incapable of even lifting his leg or hand, He looked around only to see sands as far as his eyes could see, then he looked at his own body only to see a pathetic, frail, thin-looking body. All he could think of is that he couldn't have been in heaven and more likely had been sent to hell. Despite all that, he didn't feel hungry nor in pain which made him wonder which hell he was in. The constant exhaustion only made him bored and daze off, watching the sun as it rose and descend after several hours.

After about more or less 1 day, he heard several footsteps coming from his north, he looked up to see 3 camels with brown-skinned men on top of them. His dizziness hadn't changed, which resulted in his blurry sight. He could only see a blur of someone wearing a casual outfit for someone who lived on the equator line. The man who was pointing at him and 2 other men who looked like debating about something spoke gibberish, no language he knew matched what he was hearing, mostly because he never learned any. They then picked him up and put him on the camel and continued to travel.

It only took 12 hours to reach a city that looked like a bigger version of a metropolis city, the only difference was the transparent dome that surrounded the whole huge city which looked ethereal and green in color. After reaching a big horizontal gate enough to fit several tanks, One of the camel-like riders got off his ride.

For an unknown reason, his vision isn't blurry anymore and he can move 1 of his limbs. The rider then got back on the camel after chatting with someone wearing what looked like a police patrol suit, the man is 1.6 meters tall with a muscular build but covered by his baggy uniform.

The situation of the city was so alike to that on earth, if not for some flying pod and several ethereal tethers connecting between poles on the side street what looks like electrical cables. The weather there was much less hot and much wetter which that feeling gave him an odd feeling of power inside him.

The three-man got off their camels and brought him inside what looked like a hospital. Inside, it's cramped up with so many thin people laying on the floor with their respective doctors on their sides running between them, they all looked stressed.

As they got in they dropped him on the floor too, while also looked confused, the man they carried was so thin and looked like a branch, now the man is normal sized, they looked at each other and just shrugged. After that, they just went out.

After being put down, He can look around more clearly. The room He was in resembled a lobby with many doors on the side, the doors were made out of wood but there was no handle. The ceiling and the walls are all made out of fabric, or so it seemed to him.

A person that wore doctor-like attire came to him and rubbed off his temple before yelling at the three camel-riders that brought He. The doctor then spoke to the riders with an angry tone, oddly, He could perceive some of the gibberish the doctor said, some sounded like "wrong person" others sounded like "there are none" and others sounded like "do it properly".

Those words are easy to connect as "you brought the wrong person, there is no 'something', next time do it properly", but that was only guessing. The doctor then came to him and spoke, "sorry for the inconveniences, can you get up now?", he spoke in that language that He somehow understand.

He nodded and then got up albeit staggeringly with the help of the doctor

They then headed to a room on the side of the lobby, the doctor opened the door with just a flick of his hand on where the door handle was supposed to be. The door opened without any sound smoothly, revealing a small room just the size of a medium bedroom.

There were 3 single beds on each side of the room, and each of them had people on them.

"There are so many people like you out there", the doctor started a conversation. "Lying in the desert, it doesn't make any sense and the most terrifying part is that they all have viruses on them.

"Anyway, you seem to understand all our conversation, as you are the only one that was awake, I want to ask you, where did you come from?", the doctor has always thought that all these people must be from his world which has the same language, so he just assume that all these people understand what he is saying.

"I.. d..on't.. k..now... to..o", He tried to speak their language letter by letter. Seeing this the doctor was a bit surprised, people not understanding universal language was very rare, he then ponder about the possibility that these people might have come from a desolate place.

The doctor then explained the situation, "It was said to be some kind of a virus, but even us, Medical Record, don't even know what it is, we only know that there must be a source to this virus

"The virus itself is really troublesome, or rather, could be said indestructible." The doctor then approached one of the bedside tables and took a flask on it.

"Here's a sample that we just took from one of them, as you can see, they are a simple blue dot, no matter how you see it, it may as well be an inanimate object, but the truth is, they are alive", he then put it back and started walking to He and said, "ah sorry, I was too carried. We can escort you to the mayor's office so you can register as a citizen and all other necessities"

"Thanks", He answered.

Several men with a uniform then come and invited him to very odd transportation, "this can easily be recognized as some kind of carriage but floating instead of on wheels, the mechanism of it seems quite complex", He thought.

After getting on it and it started going, He was quite surprised, "despite its unseemingly appearance, the carriage can actually travel so fast!" inside the carriage, He continued complimenting.

"Haha, you seemed to be rather unique.", the coachman said outside the carriage. This carriage wasn't soundproof because it was just a common one.

The city is so big that such 200 MPH speed is just like a normal speed, there are many traffic jams so it took longer to travel.

"Welcome, sir?"

"He"

"Welcome, sir He, the mayor is waiting for you", a young woman that looked like a secretary greeted him. She then escorted him.

They entered a huge hall where many people are, they all seem formal but the quantity of it makes him wonder what kind of government this city had to have so many officials. there are several floating platforms that act as a lift to go between floors, He had seen so many 'futuristic' things in this city, but they all seemed plain, even the platform just looked like a balcony from 13th-century mansions, making him think that the theme of this world is 'medieval' instead of 'futuristic'. Of course, in terms of functionality, it's definitely more advanced than earth

They arrived in front of a slightly bigger double door on the second floor, the secretary then knocked on it, "come in" a smooth but strong voice came from behind the doors.

They arrived in a big room with many desks and racks, they all had a paper on top of it and a pen that was writing itself. "Here is the only man who had awoken from the ñe..ß.. virus, mayor", the secretary introduced He.

"The name of the virus sounds complex", He thought.

The mayor then looked at Him while also seemingly sizing him up. "He looks like an average citizen, do they have any idea?", the mayor asked. "Medical Records don't have any sir, they also said the same and are confused by it", she answered.

After a short silence, He started to talk, "I..", the both of them then listened to him eagerly, He then stopped talking while wondering why but instantly realized that he is a kind of important sample of this case, this made him chose his word carefully.

"Can.. I be .. a citizen?", he spoke in that unknown language which he's also surprised that he can although he stutter a bit.

"Ah yes, sure, you can", the mayor seemed to have snapped back from his daze, "here", he took a pad that looked like a strange mirror. He looked at it, and back at the mayor.

"You don't know how to use this?", the mayor asked, seemingly confused. Then He answered by shaking his head.

"Now I really wondered where you come from", the mayor said while the secretary also nodded. "This is universal equipment which is a must-have in every place in this world, even a desert like this.

"Haa, alright, how to use it is simple, you just have to put your hands on top of it, and it will calculate your elemene, and.. well, mana if you have one."

"What is elemene?"

"Really? you don't even know that, now I'm convinced you are from another dimension or world or something", the mayor seemed suspicious.

Truthfully his suspicion wasn't wrong.

"elemene is the amount and power of elements in your body and mind, this determined your potential, physical power, quality of thoughts, and the speed of it. Some rare case with a high elemene on their body can even become superhuman of unique things, just in case you don't know, there are 3 main elements, which is gas, liquid, and solid. There are also subelements but I'm not gonna list them because I'm not a scientist.", after the explanation, the mayor then gestured He to quickly finish what has to be done.

'At least there is kind of thing here, not like I hope much', He thought while putting his hand there.

"What are you doing?"

"?"

"Lift your hand, we can't read it"

"!!Oh... sorry", He then lifted it and many symbols appears there, "What are these sym..bols?", He asked. "Symbol? this is the universal letter!", the mayor is flabbergasted, in his 20 years being a mayor, he had never met a single person that can't read this language, let alone not speaking it. At that moment, He realized that he slowly can read it as if it was translating in real time in his head, "ah sorry, I mean i can read it", He said, afraid of raising more suspicion.

"Read it anas", the mayor told the secretary.

"Yes sir, elemene power 100, elemene amount.... 3?"

"3?"

"Yes sir, 3"

"3 main elements?"

"yes sir, 3 main elements"

The mayor seemed shocked, and panicked, trying to reach something but only holding his own head in the end. He stuttered, "e-e-eele--ment..AN ELEMENTAL!!", the

secretary is also panicked and just froze in place. He is confused about seeing this two panicked and right when he wants to ask why he's suddenly not in the mayor's office but in a pure black room.
