The morning sunlight spilled warmly through the wide windows of the SIMS residential wing, laying soft gold across the curtains, the floor, and the sleeping figure on the bed.
Ren stirred first.
He always did, despite the previous day having been long, busy, and full of bright chatter from students, staff, and the constant bustle of a brand new medical school that was already growing faster than anyone had dared expect. Even when he had no classes to attend early in the morning, his internal clock remained annoyingly precise, as though it had long ago decided that a successful man had no right to sleep too long.
Beside him, Fang was still asleep.
