After losing my sister, I constantly had the dream that someday id join with this group and wed get revenge for her death.
I never understood why I had the dream, or for that matter why. However today was the day id get information. I just knew it. Or at least I hoped.
After hearing about Cindy's death my family has been really picky on when they send me anywhere.
I, however, unlike them, knew what was happening with her. Not the whole way but near the end. I could hear her call me and tell me that, "I was next." I have no idea if that means I'm next to die or next in the line for something.
We weren't exactly what one would call a normal family either. Mom was totally upset whereas dad. Well dad wasn't expecting it but he didn't cry as bad as mom either.
I wonder if that meant dad knew the truth about her. Would he know about me?
The bedroom was too quiet, the room beside mine, just as quiet. I really wanted to go and bother her. The sun still wasn't up yet.
I wonder what she's doing. Her and her lover may have found each other there. They could have a family. Wouldn't that make me an uncle though?
A loud thump on my window made me jump up and run over to open it.
"Party pooper." The girl's voice stated. Turned out to be Lilac. My older sister's boy best friend's little sister. Antonio.
She was standing on the air in front of my, now open window with a pouty face look. Between the two of us, only she understood what power she had. She didn't hold back on using it either.
Every night she came to help me figure out what my power was. We'd train till morning too. She climbed in as usual.
"Where did we leave off?" She asked.
I went to my desk. I took the paper and read it aloud.
"No healing, no time control, no sorcery, no elements, no flying." I paused. "No animal control, and no mind tricks either.
"All that's left is the basic Cindy powers then." She said matter of fact.
"If I could read your mind, don't you think I would of." I stated.
"True," she sat on my bed. "What about the future seeing?"
"I mean I've had the same dream, but I don't think that counts." I sat on the desk chair.
"What about enhanced senses?" She jumped up. I rolled my eyes at her.
"Isn't that part of no animal control?" She giggled. Something I didn't like hearing.
"Yes and no. What makes a sense a sense?" She asked. "I mean, what defines it?"
"Do I guess or look this up?" I questioned back.
"Were you never paying attention in class!" She spat. Her expression was enough to keep me quiet. There are five senses. Keeping up?"
"Yup."
"Seeing, smelling, hearing, touching and taste."
"What's that have to do with it?" Her eyes were glaring at me. They burned like daggers. Woman sure are scary.
"Well, there's like a sixth sense. When you feel something like an intuition is about to happen."
I nodded. I've heard of it. It's rare for sure. Not as rare as real magic but still.
"What if feeling is your superpower?" She squealed and jumped on the bed, then rolled around all happy.
"Explain. Describe." I told her. She stopped moving around. It was quiet again. The wind blowing through the window could be heard. I could swear I was holding my breath.
"What if feeling an emotion strong enough and then sharing it, was your power?" She explained. "Manipulating the six sense of feeling." She squealed.
"How do we figure it out though?" I rolled my eyes. Too bad for a clean bed. "How would I train?"
"I'm excited, so calm me down. You figure out the rest." She smiled and hugged my blanket tight. My poor blanket.
I closed my eyes and tried to think of the emotion Lilac was feeling. Excited. I tried to picture it, but nothing came of it. I tried handing her the calm I felt. I pictured giving her a box with the word calm written on it. No such luck. So, I opened my eyes, only to find her staring open mouthed at me.
"What the hell did you just try to do?" She asked.
"I was trying to give you a calm box." Her eyes wide open, she said something I've never heard before.
"Whatever box you opened makes you look all like a person with static lines in a picture." I rolled my eyes. Not getting what she meant. "Try thinking of the emotion as a line with different wave lengths."
She ran then to get a mirror from my sister's room, either that or a camera. I waited for her to come back. She got out the camera from its packaging. Guess she couldn't find a mirror. It clicked.
The moment I heard it, I closed my eyes and started thinking of a calm static-like line. Then an excited one. All the waves and up and downs. I felt it then. The end of a line, only just for a second. A click and I opened my eyes.
Lilac was looking at me in shock, then started to bring up the pictures to show me. I was horrified when I saw what I looked like.
