Lili and Alban ran for a few minutes ,their guns making a muffled sound as they rapidly take turns to headshot zombies running after them. They had no worries of running out of bullets as they have tons of them. And bullets provide a good cover for them as none would thought that they are capable of purchasing the state restricted bullets, especially as they are also 'ignorant'children.
"Roooaaarrrr! Rooaarrr! Rrroaarrr! "
The zombies roared extedly as they rushed towards the duo of delicacies.
They keep on killing zombies as they rapidly changed their guns' magazines in practiced motion. But the zombies keep coming. They had attracted hundreds of zombies, and the initial zombies attracted more zombies with their roars as they chased their disobedient preys, growing angry as they repeatedly failed to grab and eat them.
"Ho hho ho hoo!"The zombies gasped as they climbed and tripped over their fallen comrades.They coldly pierced the claws in the bodies of their own kind as they staggered to stand up, their muddy protruding eyeballs turning around sightlessly.
Their elongated limbs twisted as they run. Yes, they run. From the initial stumbling baby steps to now running at full speed similar to that when they are still humans, they had ceased to have stiff bodies.
It is due to eating lots of humans and animals and gaining huge energy in return.In just a few days, they have managed to leap up and upgrade. What's more if they keep on evolving?
Lili shuddered at the certain possibility.
Lili pursed her lips. She had received training and her stamina is great, but persisting to run while killing zombies is not an option for long as they will run out of strength if they continue to do so. Running out of energy during danger is not good.
"Big brother, we have to find a shelter soon. "
Lili said, her breathing smooth as if she had just did not do a strenous activity just now. She still have reserve stamina.
Alban glanced at her then nodded.
They turn into an alley, running into a dead end.Making a swift decision, they jumped up on the other side.
"Sh*t!"
Lili could not help but curse as a long, sharp claw brush past her face.If not for the reflex action born out of endless training and indepth immersion in dangerous areas, her head would have been clawed open! She broke out in a cold sweat. They had landed into a swarm of zombies!
She immediately took out her tang sword to face the zombie for close combat , but before she could slash the zombie, a splash of stinky blood splashed on her, soaking her front.
Lili looked at her brother's back dazedly as she watched him go crazy. He is like an aura reaping lives wherever he goes that it sent chills to whoever is unfortunate enough to encounter him.
Alban shuttled through the swarm violently. And everywhere he passed through ,the zombies there fell defenceless with their heads sliced open and their bodies torn apart. It present an even gory scene .
Not long after, hundreds of zombies died.
Lili came out of her daze. She ran towards her brother.
"Big brother! "
Lili cried as she embraced her brother from his back. She can feel him shaking.
Alban stiffened as he felt his sister. He shuddered in relief as he felt her warm and breathing body.
He nearly lost her! God,he nearly lost her! He would not know what to do if she died right infront of him!
Alban turn to gather Lili in his embrace, her head bumping into her chest as she listened to his rapid heart beat. She extended her arms around his body and began to pat his trembling body, not knowing if it is because of the activity of killing the swarm of zombies or because of her near demise.
"Big brother, I'm alright, I'm okay, I will not leave you. "Lilo comforted Alban in a low voice.
She knows that Alban greatly feared that like their parents, she will leave him. She blamed herself for being careless. Why would she subconciously think that there are no zombies at the other end of the wall?
She nearly died because of it.Let it be a lesson for her. From now on, she would not be as careless and scare her big brother.
Alban also blamed himself. He had been careless. He should have tightly protected Lili. From now on, he would not leave her out of his sight.
Unknowingly, Lili did not know that her sticky brother will be even more sticky.
They stayed still for several minutes.
Lili could no longer endure .
"Big brother, could you please let go of me now? "Lili said pushing Alban's chest.
Alban looked down at the girl in his embrace, his face sporting a dissatisfied and wronged look. His eyes glistening as he gave a pitiful look like that of a puppy. Put dropping dog ears and a tail for him, and he would complete the picture.
Lili was speechless. She stood on her tiptoes to pat his head. Big brother is so tall!
"Big brother, I wanna puke. "She announced solemnly.
Alban hesitated, then slowly remove his arms around Lili.
Lili immediately took off. She turned her back with her arm against the wall, retching to her heart's content.
She had killed lots of humongous animals and she is not new to corpses and blood. But she can't stand killing creatures that was once humans. It's the first time she had killed humans, or zombies.
When she killed them, she had repeatedly mumbled to herself that they are no longer humans, but her nausea won. Coupled with the fact that the zombies are very smelly and they looked horrible with their pus and maggots covered wounds and their unsightly aesthetics, Lili, who is a beauty loving person, can no longer stand it.
Alban helplessly stood next to her as he patted her back and smooth her hair back to her head as he spread his mental perception vigilantly in case some zombies or him and will come.
"Oohhh~~"Lili groaned as she finished.
Alban handed her a bottle of water to rinse her mouth.
"Goodness, I'm never going to eat before killing zombies again! What a waste of food. "Lili muttered uncomfortably as she wrinkled. her slender brows, her nose wrinkling as the rotten scent that permeated everywhere rushed to her nose.
Alban patted her head, and lovingly flick her small nose.
"You have to get use to it. We have to always fight and kill zombies from now on, and not eating will cause you to lack energy. You have to eat, okay? "Alban said, his tone saying that he will not be convinced otherwise.
Lili pouted her small pink lips, but did not say anything. She knows that what he Big brother says is true.
"We have to get out if here. Oh, I have to change too. You change your clothes too Big brother. "Lili said in disgust as she gestured towards Alban's clothes full of rotten blood.
Alban nodded.Perceiving that there are no other beings around them and there are no probing sights, they quickly flash onto the space to get a quick shower and change their clothes.
Lili put their clothes to the washing machine. She had wanted to get rid of them because they have been stained and they have no lack of clothes. But in the future, with the cease of production of clothes due to lack of materials, clothes will become very precious. She have to carefully preserve them.
The two siblings took advantage that they are now in the space to get a quick rest. After recovering, they got out to continue on their escape.
Lili and Alban returned back to the alley.
Lili took a quick glance at the mass of broken bodies of zombies, holding back her nausea. She had to quickly accustomed to herself to the such sights, she can't keep on vomiting everytime.
Alban held Lili's hand as they cautiously walk to the corner of the alley, and poke their heads out.
What greeted them are garbage cans overflowing of garbage, and infront are a big steel gate and in the side are a small gate.
In the small gate a grating sound is heard ,it is like nails scraping through metals, making sounds that sent tingles through their teeth.
LilI uncomfortably gritted her teeth.
Alban raised his head as he pulled Lili closed to him.
"This seems to be the garbage site of a restaurant or a hotel."He said .
LilI nodded her head.As foodies, they have visited various establishments that sell food and they are very familiar to the structure of the said establishments. It is because they have habitually investigated the places they will visit as precautions. They have to know every nook and cranny to prepare for any events to quickly escape and to quickly formulate a plan. It was part of their training.
Lili spread her mental ability to 'see'the other side of gate. She frowned when she 'sees' that there are about fifty living humans on the other side.
The people she 'sees' are cowering while holding kitchen knives and pats and pans for protection. With big ovens, stoves, sinks and refrigerators around them,she knew that they are in the kitchen.
The same grating sounds can be heard in the kitchen's sliding doors.
Due to the threat of the beasts that have terrorize humans more than 2,000 years ago, the buildings and walls have been build to have very thick and strong foundations. Coupled with the fact that the glasses and doors are build to accommodate and complete them, all buildings and houses, even cheap ones, can withstand the attack of strong,huge beasts for a number of times.
The zombies on initial stage have not yet gain intelligence and their claws can only penetrate vulnerable skin and flesh, but not thick walls and steel walls specially built for protection against huge animals with great combat power.
So the lucky humans that have luckily escaped and enclosed themselves in their houses are temporarily safe. For now.
