The Frore vampires were pleased to see me. They were of Scandinavian origin with translucent skin, snow white hair, Aurora borealis eyes and fangs visible even when their lips are closed. All of them were wearing clothes made from reindeer hides. Moving with the grace of a well seasoned predator. Their voice sounded like frost and their touch was arctic cold. The permafrost was designated as their official property. Their homes are situated inside caves with iridescent glowing walls. The rooms were comfortable and felt like home. Official documentation was released dictating that colder regions of Siberia were for nocturnals only. The same goes for the area from the north pole to Norway. The alien refugees were told politely to find a different place to stay. The vampires and werewolves prefer seclusion. The Pix that were no taller than a toddler moved their people to the ocean where they had built underwater cities. The Plovians are gray skinned, angular slit for eyes with spindly fingers and thin body mass chose to move their people to the upper atmosphere. The other ice based alien refugees moved to Antarctica and Alaska. A neutral zone where they can establish a home. The Native American gave the xenomorphic aliens a section of the death valley. I was getting bored as the reporter spoke in a monotone voice explaining the migration of the other alien refugee species.
I felt like I was back in Ravencroft academy. I felt like I was back in Mrs Ward's geometry class. I almost fell asleep. Emphasis on almost. I looked up to see everyone observing my reaction the entire time. I snorted and switched off the news. I wanted to spend time with my family. I was looking forward to family gatherings, pranks, crazy hard to believe stories and the full on reconnaissance missions so I can improve society during my next reign as an empress. A communication burst arrived an hour later requesting our immediate return to the capital. I spoke in unified and the idiot on the other side responded in English with a annoying and condescending tone. I used a different line to address the security on the Isley building. Everyone in my security and Frore vampires watched with barely contained amusement as we heard the intruders yelled in protest and were tased as they were arrested and evicted. The truth is people on the zombie island were broadcasting the hunts. They wanted to boost ratings. They assumed the nocturnals fighting zombies would be a good marketing strategy. But so far none has stepped forth.
I went to swim in the ice. The water was ink black and frigid cold. Zero visibility. Cool a new challenge. I used echolocation to track everything. Some of the ice was as sharp as knives. So I had to be extra careful. I turned to hybrid and the temperature equalized. I swam holding my breath. I had practiced to hold it for forty minutes. I ran my hands over the ice as I swam. There were a few dirty patches, a few parts of the ice that were crystal clear and some that were pure white. I finally wanted to breathe so I came out of the hole. A few deep breaths and I was back under. Oleg was bored so he joined me. He loves swimming in the ice. I recalled his youth when he used to take dips in the cold. I thought he was nuts. Now I feel like I was missing out. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and we swam till he got bored or cold. He won't tell me which but either way we took a hot shower. I drank from a blood bag while the Frore vampires watched with interest. I sat down and watched the memories. Once I learned everything possible I got up and explored the caves. Some of the caves were designed to be bedrooms. Some were designed for guests. There was a room to entertain visitors. A room for meditation and a weapons vault. The walls were illuminated by bugs. It looked like stars. I walked back to the common room where everyone was. I made myself into bats and stayed upside down on the ceiling. Oleg laughed as he asked me to come down. I screeched a few times in protest and made myself whole again as I came down. "Buzz kill" he chuckled as he carried me to our room.
The next afternoon we took the sledge and went for a ride. The dogs were enthusiastically barking as they got to stretch their legs. I laughed merrily as we went on a tour of the ice. The hybrids came with a proposal. They asked the council if one of them could rule vampires while the other ruled the werewolves. The council explained the unification meant there can be no separate ruler. This divide has caused countless wars which they have no interest in repeating. The hybrids were sent on missions to see their reflexes. From the looks of it they were proficient in video games. No real world experiences. The werewolves took them to zombie territory and gave them a machete and told them to kill them. A leader doesn't sit on their butts. The werewolves follow those who can lead. They don't take orders from someone who stays behind. It has been their absolute law. The hybrids fought a few and called it a day. The werewolves asked if I could drop by for a second. I flew at torpedo speed. I reached the destination and bowed with respect. "My lords and ladies" I spoke with respect. They bowed back. The hybrids watched as I took the machete and sliced the zombies. The entire hoard was eliminated and I asked if I should just destroy the zombie population since space was needed. The werewolves smiled as I turned around and screamed. The buildings enhanced the sound as zombies fell dead.
I asked them if they needed funds. Since I heard the council transcripts. The werewolves mentioned the funds for the repair shop and laboratory was diverted elsewhere. I called the bank and had the money transferred to the accounts. I asked them if they needed anything else. They wished me a safe trip. I waved at the hybrids before going back to Russia. I flew back to Siberia and the vampires clans and werewolves family. Both were grinning ear to ear. Oleg picked me up like I was a sack of potatoes and Roland smacked on the back of his head. "Have some respect for your wife" I remember saying oops. Oleg doesn't like it when people tell him how to live his personal life. He gave Roland a look and walked away. He turned werewolf and ran a few miles. I remember adjusting to sit on his back. I enjoyed the view and I thanked him for being so wonderful. He changed back and I promised not to be so meddling. He grinned as he explained that he was trying to get away from the Frost vampires. They are giving him the creeps. I sadly explained, "They were the deadliest werewolves hunters. They still have the hunting instincts that are slowly fading. They mentally linked with the werewolf before assaulting which is why they are efficient killers. They know times have changed and they are adjusting. I am sorry that you had to experience pain. We can go elsewhere if you like."
He smiled, "You love snow." I protested, "I love you more." He took me back and he told the others to pack their belongings. We were going to the beach. The reaction was nuclear. We flew on the helix and I got to see the landscape change. It was a breathtaking sight of the mountains. The black sand beach was hours away. It is where we would make ourselves at home for some time. I only went to the Siberian tundra because the sun won't make an appearance for a month. The vampires can enjoy it just as much as us. I think it was fair but I don't want the werewolves to feel like they should be hunted to extinction. The security heard my dilemma and chose a compromise. We flew to Svalbard instead. Oleg was smiling as I tried to find compromises to make sure everyone was ok. The locals were friendly as they joked about possible alien abductions. Oleg gave them a dirty look and they switched subjects. I changed into a wolf and Oleg changed into a werewolf. We raced each other. We wrestled with each other. We did several swimming competitions and tried to hold our breath the longest. The polar bears left us alone. We watched the Aurora borealis and ran marathons. It was the best vacation spot for everyone. We danced the night away. I even learned to use a bow and arrow. I am not the biggest fan of guns since they can be tampered with. Knife fighting was something I wasn't looking forward to. But I learned it nevertheless.
