Time: 2 months since last chapter
It's been 2 months since Iris had told Soren she was dying, and in those months they have been inseparable. Knowing she was going to die Soren's heart was heavy but he will try his best to make Iris happy.
During these months accidents did happen there,were times where Iris will be happy one moment then suddenly become angry and violent. At those times even when Iris would hit him he stood by her side. Iris would eventually snap out of it and apologize to Soren for hurting him, Soren would laugh it off and smile but Iris was always sad that this would happen.
Soren went back to the village a few times to get supplies and talk to the villagers but would always go back to Iris making the villagers wonder what was going on. The only ones who knew what's happening was Cronk the mayor and Melk the blacksmith. Both where worried about the mental health of Soren and would often times lend him an ear and listen to his troubles.
Soren woke up from his rest with a frown his mother was gone and his instincts were yelling that it was time. He really hoped this would not happen, that this would all be just a nightmare that he would eventually wake from, that his mother was fine and safe but now he cannot. Getting up looking around for any trace of where his mother would go he found a trail of broken trees that lead up to there cave home, most likely his mother was in a hurry to get there so he wouldn't be hurt in his sleep.
With a heavy heart he started walking each step was harder to take than the last tears formed in his eyes but he wiped them before they can fall. He had to be strong, he had to be there for her final moments…and he had to kill her. The thought of taking his mothers life with his own hands were braking his heart. Almost arriving at the cave he stops for a moment and thought to himself. There was no going back from this, one he step past these last few trees he will be at his former home that will now be his mothers grave.
All of a sudden a roar resounded through the forest, he knew what this meant. Taking a deep breath he stepped through the trees and found himself home. Almost immediately he was thrown back by a tail attack. He smacked through a few trees before eventually stoping. Groaning he got off the ground heavily injured. His ribs cracked a little and he found himself with blood at his lips.
Looking back from where he flew he found his mother raging throughout the forest. Looking at her memory's began to pop up in his head. All the happy times, all the sad times, every moment he spent with his mother appeared. Then another memory popped up.
Iris:"When the time comes and I am no longer myself…Kill Me."
Gritting his teeth with tears forming he ignited his hands with fire.
Soren with a yell:"DAMN IIIIIT!" (like Edward Elric from fma at the end of brotherhood) rushed toward the beast that formally his mother and attacked.
Soren:"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST!"(he will not say his attacks out loud but right now he is emotional) hitting Iris in the Chest pushing her back a few inches.
Roaring Iris unleashed a torrent of flames towards Soren which he dodged then attacked again.
Soren:"FIRE DRAGON WING ATTACK!" The attack landed but Iris retaliated with a claw piercing through Soren's left arm.
Soren:"Agggh!" Forced back he freed his arm before looking at the damage he couldn't move it but it will heal. His mother never damaged him like this. He would be hurt but he really couldn't lift his arm. Now with only one useable arm he needed to be more careful.
Soren rushed to the side of his mother and Roared:"FIRE DRAGON ROAR!" The attack hitting but again her tail slapped him away.
Landing on his back a few feet away he rolled right to dodge a claw that sank into the ground. Now on his feet the rushed in.
Soren:"FIRE DRAGON SWORD HORN!" Seeing his attack barely hurt her he knew he needed to up the power.
Soren:"CRIMSON LOTUS PHOENIX BLADE!" With a trail of fire he headbutts Iris's stomach damaging her heavily.
Hearing the roar in pain from Iris caused tears to drip from his eyes. It hurt so much to do this but he promised her, he promised to be the one to kill her and he will complete her last request.
Not letting up on his attacks:"FIRE DRAGON CRUSHING FANG!" Igniting his right hand he attacks her head with an arc forcing Iris to look down. With a:"Fire DRAGON CLAW" a flaming kick forced her head to snap back up. Landing on the ground he jumps back as Iris falls on her back.
Roaring in pain Iris has a moment of clarity:"Soren?"
Hearing her voice Soren yelled out in shock:"Mother!?" He was happy she was back.
Iris who sees him injured and at the destroyed and burned surroundings understands what's going on and tells him:"Don't stop child finish it I don't think I can come back after this. Do what you must and kill me." She says with a sad smile.
Soren with tears falling from his face looks down and sobs quietly.
Seeing this Iris gives a sad smile and speaks:"Child please while I'm still myself, let me die as Iris the mother not Iris the beast."
Soren hearing this bites his lip. Spreading his legs and charging up an attack, Fire begins to spiral around his right hand. The heat was intense and the torrent of flames was large but despite this the attack help no hate only warmth and love. Getting up with a resigned look Iris looks on as her son gets ready to end her life.
Iris:"Come My son do what you must. But know I will always be proud of you. I will always love you and I want you to promise me that you will take care of yourself." She needed to do this, she is well aware her death will affect him emotionally. So she needed him to take care of himself.
Soren:"Yes mother I promise" he whispered.
Iris:"Good now do it." Said Smiling.
Soren with a yell charged at his mother. The world moved in slow motion images of there life together formed in both there minds. When he finally reached her he spoke:"DRAGON SLAYER SECRET ART:PURGATORY SLASHING DRAGON FIRE!" The red and yellow Flames burned with all the love he had for her all the happiness he shared with her and the pride he had of her being his mother. He will never change it for the world. Then the fist landed.
*BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM*
Iris chest lit up and fire spewed from her back. The flames kept going eventually reaching the mountain and blowing fight through it. In the village everyone looked up and saw the mountain now had a massive hole in it and red and yellow flames that eventually died down. Then it started raining people rushed to cover up there stalls and ran inside to get out of falling water. The only ones still outside looking at the mountain and the dying down flames not caring about getting wet we're Melk and Cronk.
Cronk:"So it was time huh." He said with in a sad tone. He knew this will eventually happen but he felt it was too soon.
Melk:"Yeah the kid is going to be in shambles after this. Hopefully he won't change too much." She was worried you don't kill your parent that loved you for your whole life without changing. She really bonded with the kid when she was his teacher so she will be there for him.
Cronk:"All we can do is be there for now let's get things ready for his return." They walked home getting ready for Soren's return.
With Soren and Iris the flames died down and Iris fell on her back now having a Giant whole through her body. Soren who landed on the ground started shaking.
Iris who was dying spoke in a soft tone:"Come here child."
Walking towards her with his feet dragging through the now muddy ground stood next to her head looking into her eyes.
Iris:"You did good child"
Soren who was silent for a moment spoke:"IM SORRY!" Tears burst from his eyes he fell on his knees and cried.
Iris smiles:"You have nothing to be sorry for child I wanted this. I wanted to die as myself and not someone else." She was happy to be herself in her final moments.
While Soren was still crying Iris continued to speak:"Soren my son with my death you will go through changes not only emotionally but physically and magically. Listen well when a dragon slayer slays a dragon or has enough power they unlock something called Dragon Force. Now with my death I know you will have a trump card to defend yourself with."
Soren screamed:"BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU! I NEED YOU MAMA!" What was the point to having all this power if he can't protect her with it.
Iris smiles it has been a long time since he called her that:"I have been dying for a long time now child now I die knowing your safe and I couldn't be happier. Now you must find someone you wish to protect with your special flames, find a purpose and become stronger than you already are. You have the potential to be at the peak of existence but you must reach for it and having someone to ground you will be good for you not to let your power control you." Suddenly she remembers something.
Raising her claw a small light glows on the top of it and she places it on Soren's head. A rush of knowledge is given to him.
Iris:"This was something that was someone made but when they died it remained incomplete until I completed it, It's a magic called "LITTLE WORLD" basically you will have a little world in the void and using this you can safely travel worlds though it is random. The void beast that live in the void cannot enter, use this magic to find Hestia. I know you have been wanting to meet her So go find her."
Soren With a small smile says:"Of course I will find her and show her that you raised me well. I will become the strongest dragon there ever was, this I promise you. I love you mama." He loved her,he truly did she was his world and now he will find hestia and show her just how great Iris had raised him.
Iris:"Good.now this is important so listen up, i was the Dragon Queen but now with me dead you will take my title. I, Queen of the Dragons Iris announce that my son Soren is to be given the title King of all Dragons!" She announced. When these words were heard throughout the world the worlds magic pulsed for a second before calming down. Soren who listen suddenly felt something change in his body his body healed and he felt stronger and more in tune with nature then he was before. His arm gained a red dragon with a red crown tattoo signifying his new standing.
Iris breathing in deep spoke:"My time is up child, I wish we could have been together longer but sadly we cannot. Just know I love you. And try to live on without me." Barely keeping her eyes open.
Soren with tears nods:"I promise mama and I love you as well."
With a small smile Iris finally closes her eyes and embraces her enteral rest.
With that the Queen of Dragons finally passed away leaving her only son the new Dragon King crying in the rain next to his mothers body.
