Compared to Shard, the condition of the three ghouls was even worse. Shard's counter-spell to their Maze Lock hit them hard, leaving the three ghouls weakened and huddled together without seizing the chance to counter-attack while Shard regained his strength.
Even though his opponents were Undead Creatures, Shard's recovery speed was faster than theirs. Within a few breaths, as the scorching air filled his lungs, Shard raised his head to look at the huddled ghouls.
They noticed Shard's movement almost simultaneously, and the three corpses darted in three directions. One climbed the wall to higher ground, another dove into the soil as if diving into water, and the last one charged at Shard.
"Do these things have too many tricks?"
